Nice review - thank you. I'm getting ready to replace the stock tires on my 2018 TRD/OR. I'm think of going up slightly in size to 256/75 R16 on the stock wheels. Did you consider the 75s?

I did - but decided to keep stock geometry for now, though I'm considering going up a size with the next set. :)

Nice review. I am shopping for new tires and I came across this thread. I have a 2015 with stock tires, P265/65R17 BF Goodrich Rugged Terrain T/A. Yep, going on 7 years with the same tires. I only have 21k miles, I don't drive much :D

I have some questions, looking for suggestions. My needs: Don't drive much, mainly city and some highway. I live in the South, so I only deal with rain. I don't drive off-road, we have lots of pot-holes here though :D

    1. Would the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S be a good replacement for my stock tires?

    2. My stock tires have the white outlined letters showing, I like this style. Tirerack shows them with white outlined letters. Just want to confirm if one-side is white outlined letters and the other side is solid black.

    3. Tirerack currently has these for $186.99 ea and $70 prepaid card with a purchase of (4) - roughly $678 before tax and install. Seems like a good deal. Tirerack will ship to a local installer for free. The installers they offer are Firestone, Pep Boys, and NTB. Anyone have any recommendations?

    4. Last time I bought tires for my wifes car, the Goodyear shop recommended an alignment. I think it was a cash grab, since her car did not have any drift. I do not have any issues with the truck drifting though. Since my Tacoma is 6+ years old, would it be a good idea to get an alignment?

Living in Nashville, we also get quite a bit of rain - it is SUPER hard to lose traction in heavy rain, I always feel super confident with these tires. And on the odd chance you get some ice / snow I recently learned they definitely live up to their reputation :)

    1. Can't beat for the price... on second set with 80k on the ODO
    2. Yes, one side has the white lettering
    3. I've had good luck with NTB in the past, but Discount Tire is who I've used for the last several years and have had excellent experiences but I also bought direct from Discount Tire Direct. Anyone can do it though :)
    4. Considering you hit a lot of potholes, probably worth getting it done after several years without an alignment. Not a cash grab to get it looked at IMO

Given the cost, grip, versatility, low weight, and confidence I will be running these tires for years to come personally!

Got these tires installed a few weeks ago in stock 265/65R17 size. I love how they drive and they look great!

Has anyone taken these on forest service roads? I don’t off-road but want to know if these could at least handle some forest service roads in North Georgia!

They'll do more than forest roads for sure, but I frequent the area you're speaking about from the Ocoee down to Brasstown Bald, Blue Ridge, Chattooga, Cherokee and Nantahala Nat'l forest. Been all over forest roads there the last couple of years with these tires and never had a flat or an issue whatsoever

That’s great to hear. Any FSRs you’d recommend? Unfortunately I just have 2WD but I’ve read there are some easy ones in the area?

At what point do.you consider it time to change this tires? Mine are looking a little thin but maybe I'm just paranoid. Use a quarter method? Measuring tool? Is there an indicator on the tire

    Measuring tool, they're really cheap.

Got a set a couple days ago.
I really really like them thus far.
The ride is soft, and pretty quiet, and they are definitely aggressive-looking enough for my 2wd, especially compared to OEM Destination LE2’s, 4 1/2 years older and over 17,500 miles. 1EC9575D-8110-488C-AC74-45470EA1EF30.jpg 79F0F30E-ECBA-471A-8253-CA82369248C2.jpg

I think they look great. Even better with a wee bit of tire shine.

Do the Discoverer 4s tires run a little smaller than other brands of tires?

I think they do slightly TBH. My next set I'm going up to 32s, but I also lifted the front an inch w/ a set of Pro Fox shocks.

I recently switched wheels and had issues balancing a set of falken wildpeaks. I had been to Mr. Tire several times. Different employees had given it a go and I still felt a wobble above 50Mph. It was frustrating to say the least. After reading that balancing woes are a common issue with the falkens, and also reading this thread, I opted to buy a set of 4S. They balanced perfectly on the first go, so no need to have people handling the wheels any more than necessary. Although they look less aggressive than the wildpeaks, they still look very good, and also feel excellent on the road. I went with 265/70/17 and they do not rub, even with the mud flaps on. All in all, I'm very pleased with the tires. Thank you very much to everyone that's contributed to this thread.

I've been running Cooper at3 4s 265/75/16 for about 1yr/10k miles in Ohio. Coming from stock its not even comparable.
Cooper balance, ride, handle great wet/dry, snow and quite. I've pushed them pretty good. Definitely pleased with purchase. I will now run these as a summer tire as it see more highway in summer months.
I just installed Eibach stage 1 on 1st clip, Icon 1.5 progressive aal, spc uca's and will runToyo at3 255/80/17 Fall-Spring. Almost went Cooper for 2nd set but wanted try another brand.

I'm running the exact same tire size and tire (Toyos) after having the coopers. They are a bit more stiff but not much. They feel a little heavier when accelerating and stopping. Definitely not too much. At 50lbs they're only about 6lbs heavier than my coopers.

Thanks for sharing, was wondering how much different they would handle an ride. After lots of looking an reviews, 50lb didn't seem so bad compared to some. I'm just waiting on call from DT once they come in.
What psi are you running. Figure I'll probably have do chalk test.
