Winter seems to be winding down and I'll be looking to pick up a fresh set of all-terrains soon. My fallback choice at this time is the tried-and-true Cooper Discoverer AT3 as I've run those before, but I'm also looking at the BFG KO2. I've run the old versions of those on a '97 F-150; again, have a pretty good idea of what to expect. An alternate choice that recently came onto my radar is the Cooper Discoverer S/T. Not the STT or ST Maxx, the regular S/T. It seems like it'll be in the same ballpark as the KO2 - on the more aggressive end of an A/T, but still good on pavement. Not too heavy in 31x10.5x15. Cost is a toss-up between the BFGs and the Cooper S/Ts - both are very reasonable in 31s. Anyone have any experience with this tire? How did it wear, how did it do in rain, in mild off-pavement situations (forest roads)?

I have ran two sets of these tires, one set in 265/75/16 on my 2nd gen Tacoma and one set of 285/70/17 on my 5th gen 4Runner. Excellent tires and I have put them through some technical stuff on trails in WA and through desert conditions of Tucson. They have never let me down and perform very well, they are quiet on the street also they wear evenly and both sets at 50,000 miles still had half or more tread life remaining.

I have also ran 285/70/17 Cooper ATP on the 4Runner as well and they were amazing as well but the ST just ran better in wet conditions and off-road. I am in the process of looking at tires at the moment and am sticking with Cooper I just am unsure of which model, I may try the ST Maxx since I've never ran them before.

If you haven't gotten tires yet I would recommend the s/t's in a heartbeat. Haven't run them on the Tacoma yet but I had them on my Wrangler and I thought they were excellent. They did great in mid and snow and wore really well. I stuck with Cooper for the truck and got the ATWs which I also really like but I'm thinking about going for the s/t's again next time around
