Cooper STT 265/75/R16 on base 2008 access cab

    First off, great site with tons of information! I spent quite a while on here looking for some information on Cooper STT 265/75/R16 on a base 2008 access cab, with no luck... so here i am a new member with a question or two!

    I am looking to keep my stock wheels for now. I am going to buy cooper STT's in 265/75/R16 or 285/75/R16. Also a leveling kit or a 3 inch suspension lift to go with the tires.

    I would like to avoid any "rubbing" or could live with "very little"

    Can either of these set ups be done with stock wheels, no spacers and no/little rubbing???

    Also does anybody have this set up??

    Pictures would be greatly appreciated if this set up does exsist...i'm sure it does, i just can't seem to find it!

    The 265s will fit stock, maybe minor rubbing at full lock, the 285s will fit with 3'' lift but if you put them on stock wheels you will need wheel spacers so the tires dont rub the upper control arms.

    If you're not a prerunner, or 4x4 then I think the 265's will be to big as well...

    thanks for the help, it is a 4x4 access cab and i would like to keep the stock rims for now, so .... it looks like a leveling kit with add a leaf and 265's would work.

    Just get a set of Old Man Emu springs they will run you about 180 bucks, they will lift and make the truck ride and handle much better.

    Here they are on my 2005 Tacoma... They are stock size or within an inch of stock (75 vs. 70 aspect ratio)... Look great... I would NEVER get them again, unless I only did mud driving and noise wasn't an issue.

    1) Look Great and gave me the most mileage of any tire: 40,000 miles of life before switching to Toyo Open Country ATs.
    2) Work great in mud and rocks
    3) TERRIBLE IN SAND (remame them Grave Diggers)
    4) VERY NOISY on the highway
    5) Gas mileage dropped 1 MPG.

    I have a similar setup that you request. I have a 2010 DC LB SR5 4x4, no lift, stock OR Rims with Cooper ST 265/75/16 wheels. No rubbing problems at all. The 265/75/16 is the stock tire size for TRD OR trucks. I'm pretty sure you'll have rubbing if you get 285s. I have pics on my profile. I didn't want to go with a straight mud tire, so I stuck with the ST's for the versatility of A/T. They worked great in the snow. I haven't taken them off road yet, so I can't comment on that.

    Well the 285's do rub...i ended up going with 3 inch lift - 1.5" wheel spacers and the 285 STT's and i'm bummed. I got everything together and did some minor trimming of the fenders... everything was going great, no upper control arm rub nothing. took it for an allignment and now it is rubbing on the cab mount deal. So i am going to have them put it back to where is was before i did the allignment. They told me that it will be outta spec and the tires will wear fine soooooo i guess that is what i am doing! Let ya'll know more tomorrow! and hopefully get some pics up cause it does look good, but looks aren't everything for me at this point!

    Interesting that you came here for advice... and you went with the 285s anyway? Hope you get it fixed and can go wheeling soon... and not damage the drivetrain.

    I did the 285's with the 3 inch lift and the spacers. Firefighter 160 was right that i needed the spacers to avoid rubbing the upper control arms. The rubbing i had was on the inner fenders. Anyways after the minor trimming and getting the allignment back where it was everything is great... I did come here for advice and went with it and just had to make some minor adjustments! Hopefully i don't damage the drive train. Just curious on that?
