I don't have a great answer for you, as I have not had either. I'm in the market for new tires as well, so I have researched both tires.

I feel like the two tires you mention are in different categories.

The STT Pro has larger voids and is more of a M/T tire where as the Ridge Grappler has been described as a hybrid tire mixing qualities from both A/T and M/T.

I'm lookin for a 285/70/17 and the Cooper does not come in a C rating at that size. The Nitto does.
This is where the Trail Grappler comes in for me. At 285/70/17 the TG, comes in a C rating. For me the TG is closer to the same tire as the STT Pro than the Ridge Grappler.

The RG will be a better road tire than both the TG and STT pro. It looks to be sipped making it better on hard packed snow (road/city snow). The STT Pro is sipped but not much. The TG has no sipping.

As far as off road, I believe the RG will do most of what the STT and TG will do, except in the mud.

As far as looks, I think the TG is the best looking tire made, STT Pro is next. The RG looks great for a hybrid with aggressive sidewalls, but to me it just doesn't look as good as the other two.

That's my 2 cents. What I'd like to hear if anyone has experience with both, is a comparison between the Trail Grappler and the STT Pro. Maybe I'll start my own thread.

Edit: Apparently Trail Grapplers do have siping according to the Nitto website

Take a look at the ST MAXX from Cooper, the STT pros I've heard nothing but good things on them... The nittos do look nice more in lines with the ST Maxx ...

This one is easy. As near as I can tell the Ridge Grapplers aren't made for 16" wheels.

Those tires aren't in the same category. But the ST MAXX is a hell of a tire.

I'm a little confused by the C rated Trail Grapplers. According to Nittos website, they weigh in at 66.38 lbs. How can they possibly only weigh 0.01 pounds less than the E rated tire?! (66.39 lbs on Nittos website)
