Cooper's Treasure

Anybody out there following this show?

I'm just catching the first show. Seems like it could be good, but might be just another Discovery channel goat rope.

 

I have it recording. Pretty sure it will be 100% goat rope but the premise is at least interesting.

 

I get the feeling that the main dude is at the end of his rope and that this whole show is his last ditch effort at doing something significant in life. Why not have a show fund an effort?

So far the history of the space program is rather compelling.

 

This would be all over the news if there was anything to it.

 

Finally caught the first episode. Seems a little interesting. Not expecting much. Can't tell if the old man is completely fucking mental or if he's legitimately sick of his son's games. Son seems like the riding-on-daddy's-name type.

 

Yeah... not sure what the hell to think. Probably a little bit of both. Psycho dad and con artist son.

The dad looks like Stan Lee a bit, like Stan Lee's drunk beligerent brother. Did you notice the old man's shirt? It had a patch that said Los Angeles Police Athletic department or some crap like that.

I'm gonna watch it until I can't stand it.

 

Episode 1 was interesting. My guess is it will be like the oak island show on history. Tons of $ spent but no results.

 

Jeesh, I'm not sure how anything could be worse than Oak Island! Then again...

 

I was trying to catch what it said. I'm in the same mode. I'll watch it until the idea of a noose becomes more appealing than an hour with them.

So probably like 3 episodes.

 

Personally I have a hard time believing that Cooper ferreted away Top Secret files all these years...Hillary yes, but astronaught

Perhaps it was stuff that was eventually declassified. Also if I'm going to meet with the top scientists of NASA's program, I think I would have the show rent out a restaurant or some boardroom instead of the local Cracker Barrel during regular hours and the general public within earshot of all the "top secret" stuff.

 

I think I'd do it without discovery channel recording all the details for other people to start searching...

 

Exactly. Also, if he's studied this shit for add long as he said he'd know if he needed that chart or not. Not piss away money on a failed location hunt and then suddenly say "well I guess I have to go talk to the worst dad in the world".

 

What was it about the chart? I think I might have checked out mentally a bit, or I took a break during that part. All I remember is him saying he needed to get it from his hideous dad.

 

He has tons of hand drawn maps of reefs showing the wrecks on them. The maps don't list the actual location though. The chart lists the locations of every piece of info he has. The chart, is a cypher to the locations or something my guess. That way if you lost some of the maps, they arent going to totaly get you there.

 

OK. That makes sense. You saved me from having to re- watch that show. I figured it was something key like that.

The first 20 minutes seemed like a trailer for the whole season.

 

He should break into his dad's house and take the master chart. If he can't find it then he should take his dads cartons of cigarettes and liquor and hold them hostage for a "trade".
