I am currently looking for a Tacoma and it’s been three months. I recently found one. 2006 v6 with 175000 miles. It seems good. Surface rust on the frame as it’s last owner was in Idaho. (4 owners). After market headlights and tail lights. Pioneer stereo system and back up camera. Method wheels with falken tires. Light bar. Couple scratches and rust spots on the paint. But the engine seems to run good a/c runs fine. Lowest I can get is 11,500. Is this a good price?

Check the production date. If it was built before 12/05, I wouldn’t give more than $8K for it. 176K miles is where a lot of the ‘05 and early ‘06 Tacos blow the head gasket. After 12/05, they used a redesigned head gasket that didn’t have problems. Also, you need to check the frame VERY thoroughly for rust. Especially near the catalytic converters.

    Stock for now.. maybe
Do your do diligence and go from there. Do they have any maintenance records from themselves or past owners? Carfox for maybe some records, use vin for looking up dealership work on Toyota.com. get a pre-purchase inspection if you don't feel qualified checking it out. It might cost $100 more or less but well worth it. Can also go to your local or regional thread to see if a local tacomaworld member can come help you out

Also the posts above, not sure how that pans out because I have no knowledge

    Good luck either way
