I’m not doubting you at all, if they do that’s great! I’d just make sure they know it has a salvage title, if something did happen to it and they claim you didn’t tell them, I’m sure they’d be off the hook. They would find out eventually when they buy it from you,,, should something happen,,, hopefully it doesn’t.
I’d hate to pay for and assume I’m covered, if I’m really not.

Absolutely but it’s a rebuilt title, not salvage. There’s a big distinction. That being said Allstate wouldn’t cover it and I was shocked State Farm would. I was expecting only liability but nope they said they’d go full coverage and it would pay full truck value, not rebuilt value

Did you ever buy a new driver side sensor? I have two of these that worked fine when I pulled them. They are in a box and I didn’t realize this might be a part I can sell. If you did buy one did you get a new or used one?

Great work, but as mentioned, a labor of love, not money.
    Rebuilt / salvage, title won't bring 34K.

Thanks guys. I’ll probably put it on marketplace for 34k and if it sells fine and if not I’m cool with that too. It drives like a dream, it has the premium sound system and looks great. Can’t wait to start driving it on my trips, probably be a lot more comfortable than my RAV4

Advertise it online, put a for sale sign in the window, and enjoy driving it around. If it sells, great. If not, so be it.

In my area, i've seen tons of salvage/rebuilt title 3rd gen 4x4 Tacomas for around $30K. They seem to be sitting too. Too many unknown variables. A new TRD Sport 4x4 can be had for $38K now (slight discount) so there is no advantage to buying a used salvage title one for $34K.

Don’t know where you live my friend but new ones here are around 46k plus dealer fees. Personally I’ve never seen a rebuilt one for sale I’ve never seen a rebuilt anything for sale

Nice job there. You finished it relatively quick. Enjoy driving it or good luck selling it. Very impressive.

    I'm in CA.

Here are a few examples I pulled up with 30 seconds of searching!

    https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/ctd/d/sacramento-2019-toyota-tacoma-double/7580651701.html

    https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/d/sunnyvale-2019-toyota-tacoma-low-miles/7580087624.html

    https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/d/san-francisco-toyota-tacoma-2021-trd/7578881033.html

    https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/newark-2017-toyota-tacoma-trd-4x4-off/7578900386.html

As for price of a new one, a tacoma dcsb sport 4x4 with premium and tech is 41k. Some dealers are taking off 2k+ so 39 ish you can get a brand new 2023 one.

That said, I think your truck is a lot nicer than most rebuilt ones. I'd drive it and the right buyer will come along!

I've rebuilt a couple of Tacos. Both 2012 with rear end damage. Damage so light I was surprised they were totaled. I fixed each of them in my driveway with nothing but common tools and about $200 in parts. Sold one for a profit and still driving the other.

Gotta say I don't understand the politics in rebuilding a truck. I've run mine hard just to be sure they are safe and dependable. They are just as good as anything else on the road from my experience... but insurance companies and finance companies don't like them and wet their pants when they are asked to deal with them. I mean... if they were some kind of problem why would any state allow them to be on the road? They AREN'T a problem but anyone that doesn't know that gets nervous. And then of course there are the guys that come to look and by the end of the test drive they are practically drooling but because of the branded title they think you should be glad to take half of what you are asking. I've seen people in these threads cut up brand new trucks with zero miles and absolutely RUIN them, and then advertise them for big bucks because they think their modifications are improvements... LOL.

So I'm not selling the last one I built. I have about a third the money in it that unbranded trucks go for and I'll be just as comfortable in mine going down the road for just as many miles. In fact I also have a rebuilt Corolla which I will probably never sell. When my grandkids need a car it might be theirs. We'll see.

Good luck with yours, no matter what you decide to do.

They are nowhere near that cheap here for some reason. Here’s a pic of one exactly like mine new. You’d never be able to buy a a TRD 4x4 Sport for that price in Alabama or Georgia. I guess they’re just more popular here for the “mud boggers”. I appreciate the info, I learned something today. I learned that if I’m looking to buy another go to California and get it

We could be friends I feel the same way about “modifications”, normally when I see that I automatically think either it’s a shit job OR the truck has been ragged and wore the hell out.

I live close by so if you ever doing this again, I love rebuilding stuff. My expertise is in jeeps but I am now in market for tacoma and ran across this build. Would have loved a more detailed picture guide. But I do understand you was doing this with minimum help and documentation may not have been a priority. Guess buying in at the height of the covid vehicle prices really hurt the outlay of cash comparison to a few years back. I just can not bring myself to spend what toyota wants for a new one. And I would be afraid ever time I went to the store some bhole would door ding it
