I have the Cardone HD CV that I got as a replacement for while I rebuilt my OEM CV. It's been about a year and I haven't put the OEM one back on....mainly because I haven't rebooted it yet. But that said, I've been pretty pleased with the Cardone HD that I got from RockAuto.

The NAPA ones that have the lifetime warranty that people say are pretty good are the regular Cardone CVs. ($35 @ RockAuto from what I remember) I think I paid double that for the HD (~$70 shipped) with lifetime warranty. So when the garage is more comfortable to be in, I need to get around to rebooting my OEM so that I have a spare.

I understand the difference in the regular and HD version is simply the quality of boot. Time will tell how well this one holds up. Most people mention that the steel in the OEM shaft is stronger. I can't comment on strength, but I can comment on thickness. The Cardone shaft registered at 1.25" on my dial caliper, whereas the Toyota OEM shaft registered 1.36". Take that for what it is worth.

Maybe not. Maybe it will just bring us some light sprinkles and that's it.

Those look pretty solid. Im going to give these red booted cvj a try. Hopfully once i get everything put back together it will stay that way. Im going to keep the axle that the inner boot ripped on only and rebuilt that one with a red boot. Im going to send them the one that broke and i have 2 other oem cv that need to be rebuilt, so ill just send them one of those to get my money back.

Ooof this is rough. Weather isn't looking prime for the Cove but we'll see what its looking like as it gets towards the end of the week.

In the case the Cove is not an option this weekend, what is the general consensus of what everyone would like to do as a fall back plan? Regardless of weather, I will be doing something this weekend (can't move the trip back a weekend as I will unfortunately be busy). What are y'alls thoughts on heading to Windrock? I know thats a drive, but totally worth it (for me that is hehe). I'm 100% open to other suggestions as well, really just wanna get out and throw down with you Alabama folks and put some names to some faces!!

If the Cove doesn't happen this weekend, we can push it back a few weeks, into the middle of September or even October.

Goooooood morning ladies and gentlemen!! We are two days out from this weekends adventure. I know the weather has been interesting this week, potentially having us throw out our original plan of Coppinger. Id like to have some sort of plan by the end of the day today.

As of now my two thoughts are:

    1) Go to Coppinger as planned, and check the water levels and go from there (assuming rain isn't 100% forecasted for the whole weekend, not looking great as of now - 40% Friday, 80% Saturday, and 20% Sunday). We have the surrounding areas as a backup (Big Fork, Aetna Mtn, possibly Prentice Cooper).

    2) Push the Coppinger idea back a bit and go to Windrock this weekend. I really just want to go to Windrock again, but thats just me:rofl:

I am 100% open to other ideas, but as i mentioned, I'd like to get a firm plan by the end of the day today!

I've got this Friday off, depending on where we go, my Dad may or may not tag along. If he comes, I wont leave until late afternoon, if not, ill be able to leave Friday AM.

    @CowboyTaco @cubie @JBTacoma @stronghammer @tweakit88 @JKU3000 @synaps3 @JonesMGMOR @ovrlndkull @CountryDan @ anyone else I missed who was interested!

Lets make this happen!!! and not sink our rigs like @BYJOSHCOOK did here hehe

That storm circles around right on top of TN. Looks like it’s gonna get rained out man. We are going to stay here locally instead and wait for the next ride on another weekend. I hate it, wife and I been looking forward to this all month. Damn hurricanes.

Yup, I agree as far as Coppinger goes. I'll still be getting out this weekend however!

    hehehehe

Sounds good, look forward to it! Maybe you'll have it finished for whenever Coppinger gets pushed back to:thumbsup:

I am still a go, depending on the rain for Coppinger Cove its only 2 hours away but I can't make the 4 hour trip to Windrock with a chance of getting rained out there.
If Coppinger Cove gets rained out maybe we can reschedule it to a later date or any other place.
