the black ones with the LEDs? When I upgraded the bulbs to HID (stock output was actually pretty good but I wanted more) the cutoffs in those headlights was ridiculous. You can see the cutoffs on one of the earlier pages, it looked way dumb and I felt like a wannabe driving around with fake assclown HIDs. My plan was to just replace the projectors in those headlights to the new projectors but turns out the projectors that came in those black headlights were way tiny and my MacGyvering skills accidentally destroyed the mounting plate in one of them so I said fuck it and started cutting and drilling into my stock headlights instead. I plan to open em back up and use some black plastic to cover up the bowl kinda...we'll see

Great job with the Taco - your posts have helped a good bit with some of the stuff I want to do.

I've been debating whether or not to get the projectors (don't want to do any customizing with the stock headlights and don't want to just put HIDs in).

I saw the pics and I understand that there were cut-off issues. I saw a few possible explanations posted. Is that the only reason they felt like they were 'fake' and wannabe HIDs?
That issue aside, were the projectors with the 6000K HIDs bright enough? From the pics I saw of your Taco, they looked pretty good!

Thanks - and again - nice work!

thanks man! to be honest they were pretty awesome, even with the bulbs that came with them they were still way brighter than the stock headlights. i'm always looking to upgrade this or make that better or whatever and lights seem to be my thing right now lol the projectors themselves were great but the high-beams were terrible. hella bright but aimed incredibly bad and you can't aim the high-beams separately than the lows so I was sol. i really wanted to keep the headlights and use those but my dumbass cut this and shaved that and soon enough there was no possible way to get the new projectors in there so i nixed that idea

so the truck started squealing yesterday pretty bad. it did that once before for a day then stopped for about a month then just yesterday got real bad and didn't stop. the squeal followed the RPMs and seemed to get worse when the AC was on. seemed to be coming from the driver's side area so we figured it was either the alternator or the AC below it. took into the dealer just for a diagnosis (I'm in no way capable of working on anything AC lol) they wanted 400 before taxes to replace the serp belt and both idler pulleys. I said hell no and coughed it up for a brand new belt. Anyone else have similar symptoms? Squeal seems to have gone away.. for now anyway. let me know if you guys think i should check anything else - thanks!

Toyota "drive" or as they are sometimes called serpentine belts are, honestly, not very high quality. Being a bit cynical I wonder if this is not planned obsolescence to keep dealers busy.

Goodyear gatorback belts, parts lookup here: http://partfinder.veyance.com/# are, in my opinion, a better alternative and more competitively priced.

Belt inspections is easy. Removal and installation is about 20 minute job with just a few tools.

    Oh, BTW, very nice build!

i love em man, they have mad traction and clear mud out pretty well. i had a tiny gash (about 1in) on one of the tires and sent pics to treadwright and they sent me out a free tire no questions asked. i would definitely get them again, but i think i would go one size bigger.
