Core / Hurst short throw shifter

Make sure you assembled the lever to the shifter base with the serrations together. If you put the lever on with the smooth side to the shifter it will loosen up. Use plenty of blue loctite as well.

Like deeez said, I would definately check the bolts on the stick. Mine almost fell off while driving when I first installed.

 

Did the stick fall off?

 

Pretty sure I put it on the right side...putting it any other way just seemed counter productive, put I'll pull it apart tonight and get a look. Something tells me its just normal manual slop or something and In my head it just seems excessive.

 

Mines reversed with a spacer wedged in between. This kit enabled me to move the shifter over towards the drivers side which I hope will make the triple stick mod easier to achieve.

 

Parked out front of work, truck is off, but this is the same slop it always has...thats in first gear I pulled the cupholders out and snaked a hand inside to feel everything, this is definitely the Core Shifter and not just the stick....

Annnnnd TW wont let me upload my video from my phone lol. Guess ill try tomorrow when i get home. Slop is about an inch to left or right and about 2" forward and back, with foot off of clutch

 

That's not normal. Mine moves 1/2 inch front to back, and almost none side to side.

Finally got the video uploaded.

I'm thinking the white bushing is deformed or gone at this point, allowing it to move around so much more. I emailed Core but got no response. I'm going to open her up as soon as I can get the baby asleep lol

 

Yup, you're probably right about the bushing being damaged/worn out.

 

Well, Luckily I've got the stock one still, I'll just have to pry it off and reuse it. Maybe I'm shifting to hard or something for the bushing?

 

Must be all that rubber you're laying down w/ the SC.

 

Ok so core said he'd be willing to replace whatever is wrong, upon further investigation, the bushing doesn't seem that worn out, but its got a little bit of slop in it, when I pulled it off it still looked pretty new, no uneven wear on it or anything. But it definitely moves a good 1/8" or so wiggling on the shaft. The OEM one just rolls as normal with zero slop. HOWEVER, after getting everything pulled apart I come to find out the Hurst Core shifter does not use the same ball end as the OEM shifter, so the bushing on the oem just pops right on to the hurst shifter and falls right back off. FML.

I will admit the shifter bar was a hair loose on the mechanism, so i snugged it way down and threw some more loctite on it. But now that's its all back together I still have alot of slop. Hopefully i can get Core to send me a couple bushings so I have spares if/when this happens again

 

No suggestions here; my 5 speed shifter did not come with the ball-end bushing and the instructions covered removing the existing one and moving it to the Hurst unit.

 

Yea, the hurst shifter came with a pre-installed bushing. I asked Core if he knows where I can source a better bushing or if he'll toss a couple my way. Hopefully he's cool about it and doesn't make me do it on my own lol

 

Ok so Core wants me to ship it back lol, i told him id prefer not to, id rather just get a couple spare bushings, as the shifter body looks fine, i have a feeling im just shifting to roughly and wore out the bushing or something.

 

UPDATE- Core say's he machined a new bushing partially made from glass or with glkass added to the mix, to be stronger, I suppose? Shipping out soon!

 

Was curious if anyone had a video of running through the gears with the core/hurst? Only one I can find is the NV3500 kit, and I figured it would be apples to oranges.
