Core / Hurst short throw shifter

I will say that mine feels a bit more loose than it used to...

 

The left to right spring feel got more loose on mine but there's no "play" while in or out of gear. I don't have anymore play than when first installed.

 

I'll see how the new bushing make its feel, to me theres just alot of play while in gear. If its the same with the new bushing im taking another video to post up and you guys can tell me if its normal and Im crazy or if i need a new shifter lol

 

I would tend to agree with Jeff. I don't drive my truck as often as I used to so It's tough to be "scientific" about changes in the shifters behavior.
By "play" we are referring to the amount of movement the end of the shifter has while engaged in a specific gear I assume.
If that is the case then I am definitely experiencing this although it does not detract from the actual short shift performance.
More of a slight nuisance.

Keep us posted, I would be interested to see if the bushing is the solution.

 

Well, i will say, alot of my problem turned out to be a loose shifter, after re-tightening all the screws id say my 'play' halved, while theres still some slop in gear, it doesn't seem anywhere as drastic. I still think a new bushing will help, as i really feel that when i first installed the shifter, it felt pretty damn solid. As it stands now i can wiggle probably half and inch side to side and a good inch or so front to back. Hoping at to at least halve that again with a new bushing if possible. If not, and its normal, i can live with it.

Coming home this morning from work, i noticed shifting was alot smoother, so thanks to those that pointed out a loose shifter handle! After feeling nothing by hand, i looked at it super close once i had the dash ripped apart and noticed it wiggled juuuuust a hair either way which exponentially turns into alot of play at the handle.

 

I'll be disassembling the center console soon. I'll double check the fasteners at that time.

 

Make sure to have some RTV handy lol! I completely forgot and luckily found my bottle hiding in a corner

 

Mine got broken in after a bunch of shifts but hasn't gotten any more sloppy since.

Uhhhhhh Craig is that in gear or in neutral lol, that looks like way more movememt than mine lol

 

On second watch, you need to pull that fucker apart and check the bolts on the shifter as well as check the bushing on the bottom of the shifter. Holy moly thats alot of lateral movement lol

Id say mine moves sid to side maybe half an inch, now, and maybe an inch forward and backwards. Way better after i tightened the shifter stick. If this new bushing helps eliminaye the remaining movement, im going to order like 5-10 lol, and then see if he'll start using those with everyone or maybe ship a couple out to you guys that have slop in your shifter.

 

PS hold on to a Ghost Raptor mesh for me, Ill be ordering one on Thursday evening when i get the cash flow

 

I've got to pull it apart. Like I said - I'll be disassembling the whole console soon to to the dual cases. We'll get to the bottom of it then.

Well, I would suggest sooner rather than later, as some guys mentioned a page or two back, you don't want your shifter coming apart on you lol. My initial check, i just pulled the cuo holders and was able to reach up underneath and feel where the shifter bolted to the mechanism and see how much play there was, didn't feel any, but once i got the boot off i could see it moving a bit
