I've probably had the new bushing in for about 35k miles, i didn't really keep track. But when i talked to Core he wouldn't make me another of the upgraded bushings, so I just ordered a couple of the ones off his website so when the slop gets to terrible i can just replace it ezpz

It all comes down to how you drive it. If you baby your clutch and soft shift it and treat her right, you can probably make it last for quite a while. I do not do this. :anonymous:

Thought you guys might find this interesting and/or weird.

I cut and welded the Hurst arm to make it about 4" shorter, leaning toward the driver's side a bit more, and a little more erect. Note this shifter is combined with the URD short shifter, for ultrasuper shortness. It literally feels like a race car shifter now.

I accidentally posted this on the 3rd gen shifter thread first, and the guys there said I should make a video showing the throw distance. I'll do that sometime this week and post it on my youtube channel...

Four are for the seats... like heaters and power. One's for engine fan, two for water/methanol injection, one for the oil accumulator solenoid.

Sorry to take this thread OT-
What is the "oil accumulator solenoid?" A mod?
(As we speak, I'm trying my google-fu too)

The device is more commonly known as Canton's Accumsump. Mine is a Moroso device though. My accumulator solenoid valve is operated manually through the center console switch, so I turn it on right before startup to flood the galleries with oil. I could also turn it on if I was going to floor it to pass someone on the highway, or at the drag strip if I manage to make it out there.

Oh I don't know... I put some LED lights under there... :D

I’m curious how much force is necessary to get it in reverse. You have a pull gauge to measure it? Or didya give up and do a sideways Fred Flintstone out the door?

A good video is in the works... lol. I want to do a proper YouTube video and not just a half-assed little clip so I’m taking my time.

I don’t have a pull gauge, but that’s a good idea to measure the force needed. I’ll see if I can find one and measure it for you.

I actually do this little wind-up and whack the knob with my hand from the left to push it into the reverse lane. That’s a habit I developed a while ago though, because I had a buggered shoulder and it hurt too much to do a static pull on it.

I do the same, give it a smack to the left. My wrist is jacked up so it hurts every time. I swapped the hurst ball with a sick speed ball. It’s a little bigger and makes a surprising difference, less painful.

The first one sick speed sent had a ding on it like it was dropped so they sent a replacement not asking for the bad one back. If interested I’ll send it to anyone who wants it along with the adapter, which fits the 3/8-16 pretty poorly. It’s the glow in the dark blue no shit pattern one. I used blue locktite so mine is on tight.

Some reason the pic makes it look tiny compared to my finger

Do you have a link to the seller? I am still researching short shift kits, but know I want a custom ball of some sort regardless.

Google hurst core shifter. There it is.

Now that you have their kit, you’re stuck with a shifter that takes a 3/8-16 knob. There’s a few knobs out there but not many. The knob that comes with it is small, too small to me. It comes with a replacement bushing so no need to buy a new white bushing from Toyota.

Another option is the urd kit which retains the stock arm and knob. Contact Gadget, and he’ll hook you up with a shortened re-epoxyed shifter arm if so desired. The rubber epoxy provides some cushion effects which I believe should also eliminate vibration noise the hurst makes. You should also replace the white shifter bushing.

Several people here have one or the other. There’s others made but those 2 seem to be the most popular. It doesn’t take a ton of skill or special tools to install. There’s a couple videos you can find here. I utilized the opportunity to replace the gear oil at the same time. Far easier to dump it in from the top than trying to pump it in from the bottom.

My defective ball from sick speed is spoken for already. I can’t knock them for sending me a defect, it happens, and they quickly sent a replacement without me having to jump through hoops.
