I had a similar problem when I initially installed the URD unit. Take a good broad chisel and place it where the seam is between the trans an shifter assembly. One or two good taps should break it free.

Call or email them and see I they can put one together for you. It's the best way to be sure. They didn't have or available , but when I called they took care of me. Minor scratch on it, so may be a return item.

Well, some people may have a problem forking $200 for damaged goods. Me, I thought it gave it character.

Ok. I lied to you. I took the inner shifter out before when replaced my clutch, and that was a piece of cake.

Last night I installed my shifter and it was a real bitch to remove the bottom assembly. The key is that the shifter assembly has to lift straight up. There are two dowels in machined seats that locate the assembly. I put upward pressure on the assembly using a bar and some wood I had around, clamping it to the shifter. Then after spraying the holes with lube and several "taps", she finally came loose. There was enough red sealant on it that it may have been glued on before.

I sealed it with blue rtv and it went together with out any drama. I didn't cut the bottom boot, after popping the staples I just wrestled it over the old boot and used screw drivers to locate the holes. Then the top boot goes on with the ORing. I ran out of time before installing the console and leather boot, but I already am in love.

Finally mine is out of the living room!

I am finding 1st and 3rd tight against the front. Will need to adjust the boot(s) but ooh I like it.

I like it a lot. It's a bit notchy, so no sports car, but it is shorter and feels positive. The spring is tougher than stock, but I bet that will work itself out. Love the look.

Does yours fit so high and to the right of the console opening? I bet I could fill in half of the hole with a switch panel now.

Yah, I know. No crawl box for me awhile.
In the mean time keeping the boot clean will be an issue. Can fit a whole bag of MM's in there.

    Wait a sec...

Derek I fixed the tight against the front problem with a razor blade and made a nice looking curve/half moon cut where the stick would push against the front plastic... You may not want to cut your console but I didn't care and it worked great for me. The shifter loosens up after a little while. Still really enjoying mine, makes the 6-speed much more enjoyable!

I'll modify it. I think I have a wrinkle somewhere. 1st and 3rd have louder gear noise than the rest. May have a fold in the insulation that is tightening things too. Developed an extra click in 1st gear.
In the past I've installed shifters that had limit screws. Are we in any danger of overthrowing the internals if we shift hard?
