    Cool stuff
Had this Core short shifter in for a long minute now, I remember when I first rowed thru the gears it felt crazy short.... now it feels normal and could possibly be even shorter. The stock would probably feel crazy if I went back to it .... how is your guys feelings about it. It’s still emits the noice thru the knob, that I can’t get past but I accept it.

Its night and day better than the factory shifter. Its a bit loud but very worth the trade off.

maybe you are just used to it. go test drive a new manual

You just gotta aspire to NVH. I don't have the Core, but I know that I would love the sound and vibes.

i like it even more than just after install about a year ago. i have an extension on mine so it's a longer throw than with the included arm, but a short throw wasn't why i installed it. mine is there for a tight, direct, predictable mechanical shift.

@fake4x4 if you want to shorten the shift further there is only one option i know. you can locate the Hurst arm part number 0131. that's a shorter arm but lines up and sits in the same place as our arm, but being shorter it gets you shorter throws but sits lower.

if that's of interest and you have trouble finding that other arm, let me know.

I've had the Hurst/core shifter several months now.
I fitted mine with an Anarchy Motive heavy shift knob. It has helped with noise vibration but by no means eliminated it.
Truthfully, I rarely even notice it.
It gets a lot of compliments and only one time was i asked, "how do I put this thing in reverse?" ....lol....no shift pattern on the shift knob.

Sometimes the dealership techs trip when they drive my truck, I have to let them know before hand so they know it’s suppose to feel the way it does

    this and that...
i knew i wanted a short shifter for the truck since my previous two tacos had them. i linked up with chris shortly after buying my sport and conveyed my aspirations to him. the dude knows his shi...stuff and pretty much grilled me on why i would want to alter his product lol. i basically told him i wanted ultra short shifts. he told me he doesnt do custom work, but reluctantly agreed, and this would basically be a one-off because of what i was asking and also because he engineered the hurst components exactly to his specifications regarding the 3g tacoma. not gonna get into it more than that because im gonna respect chris and realize that the product he offers wasnt really made for customization by the end user. in the end im super grateful that he worked with me. i had my shifter for over a year and i do say, im stoked every time i get behind the wheel. no more rowing through gears like you paddling a canoe. everything is short, crisp, and precise. i added a custom perrin performance 450g weighted shift knob, so believe that i tell you shifts are notchy af. i ran a lot of different branded short shifter: trd, urd, trd+urd, twm, b&m, coupes custom trd. to me this is the best. coupes custom trd is right up there too, but i havent seen him around since my xru days back in 08.

i added a pic of my custom core. disregard the grainy. had to post process this badboy cause i took the pic in the garage LOL.

i read the ops last post. i will add, i took my truck to the hilton one time. got that badboy valeted, and the dude couldnt get the truck into reverse LOL. simply hilarious. i took my truck to toyota when i dropped off my sequoia for service and while in the drop off bay, a couple techs noticed my shifter cause i left my door open while i transported my baby seat between vehicles. they was busy gawking, tripping on how short the shift points are.

After almost a year I like my Core shifter as much if not more than ever!
Crisp and precise is the way to describe it...very satisfying. I probably would have been ok with it stock but after reading about it I just had to do it.
I am glad I did. The slight increase in noise doesn't bother me, but I have old ears.

I have one of his knobs from early on (about 2 yrs. ago). Just ordered a SS version, when I saw that he's stepping away from making these. Wanting to mount it on the Core shifter that I haven't bought yet. Thanks for making this thread. I like seeing the comments from folks that already have & use one.

its a debatable point, but i do enjoy the mechacial hum of the transmission. like i could actually drive with no radio on, windows down and just cruise without a second thought. i know b&m has that whine as well. conversely the trd and urd shifters do not from what i noticed. its unfortunate to hear that chris will be discontinuing his product. i dont know how ill be when i get another taco down the line. then again, true manual transmissions seem to be getting harder and harder to find. i think eventually toyota might just give in and follow the status quo :/. with that thought this truck will always be in my arsenal!

I was referring to the shift knobs being unavailable in the future. Sorry if I made it sound otherwise.

I remember researching it for the two different threads on the shifter & knob. Found an adapter online, but would be happy to buy yours, since we know it's a match.

Plus, that'll help push me towards pulling the trigger on the Core, haha
