Is there a difference between 2wd and 4wd when it comes to corner and bumper lights (turn signals)? I need to buy my wife some but the ones she wants say they are for a 2wd only. Thought I'd ask here.

I believer there is difference in shape between 5 lug and 6 lug body so lamps will be different. Also there is a difference between years - the one that comes with H6054 sealed beam headlights (1995-1997) has different corner lights than the later models with plastic glass headlights.

    , sorry bud. It's a 96 base 5 lug 4wd

Rysium, thanks man. The ones she wants state they are for a 95-96 Toyota tacoma 2wd...but I wouldn't think there would be a difference in lights within the same time frame. But I've been wrong before!

    There are no 5 lug 4wds....if it's 4wd you have a 6lug Tacoma.
5 lugs Tacomas are rear wheel drive only and as far as I know, the corner lights are the same.

For the later year 1st gens I don't think there is a difference...but I just looked it up for the early 1996 model and it looks like there is. If you search for 1996 4x4 Tacoma corner lights specifically you'll find the right ones, the 2wd ones look slightly different

And adding to that in that year Toyota did not invent Pr-runner yet, so definitely 2WD is always 5 lug and different suspension, body and such from 6-lug which was only 4x4. On the pictures in on-line stores it is hard to notice difference between 4x4 and 2WD corner lamps, but they are different shape, and 2WD lamp will not fit into 4x4 body.

So you need to look for specific Tacoma (not "Pickup"), year 1995 or 1996 4x4 corner lamps. If seller does not specify all three parameters, it is a chance you will buy the wrong one. Luckily e-bay is full of them quite cheap, but quality is always unknown (unless pricey OEM) so some may not be fully sealed and can fog in the rain (In the set I bought some time ago, one lamp had to be treated with silicone around the edges because it was leaking. Basically it is hit or miss (like with most cheap stuff). In my case I had to replace my "perfect OEM" corner lamps because in Poland orange corner is not allowed and I had to have clear lamps with white bulbs.
