Hey Justin, so you snuck on out there & didn't say a word huh ?? :D:D

Nice to see you use the same line of approach as I do in this section of TDS (pics 11 & 12), seems like 99% of everyone else uses the far left side & for the life of me I don't understand why they do...:eek:

Alot drier than the last time we were there huh ?

Nice pics, was your son digging it like last time ? :D

It was a last minute thing. I didn't even expect us to go out there. Had a family friend that wanted to test out his YJ and needed a recovery vehicle to get him unstuck. :D
That whole trail isn't hard for a 4x4 but the Prerunners would definitely have a tough time now. A lot of deep ruts make it a little tricky. I can't imagine any 2WD's getting through with some mud to contend with.
My son went this time too and he had a blast. He actually fell asleep towards the end of the trail. I took the wife this time too and let her drive quite a bit. She actually did pretty well...except for all the new pinstripes. ;)
When are you going to get that 1st gen beast ready so you can get back out in the dirt?

Actually I'm getting ready to do my CV inner boots in about 10 mins. Props to you for letting the wife get some wheel time in, I think its a good idea you never know when something might happen out there (God forbid) & you might not be able to drive out & having someone else with ya that can at least negotiate trails enough to get you back out is huge in my book ..;)

I figured that if I wanted to keep going out wheeling with you guys, I'd better invite the wife to go too. Get her in on the fun. I let her navigate some of the sections without any help from me so she could get a feel for it. How did the CV boot install go? I still need to get my UCA's installed but I haven't had time. I was thinking about just saying screw it and have a shop install them for me but I like being able to say that I've done all the work myself.

There's plenty of trails that you can test out your A-TRAC, but many of them you'll need more than just that to get through. Lift/tires/winch/skids will probably get you through most of them. :D

Cool... I have gotten through trails others would swear they required lifts and all that for... while stock. 'Broken Axle Gultch' below Devil's Dropoff (Borrego Desert) and Mision Santa Maria to name a couple!

You can give it a shot but I'm not even trying to take my truck on them. Definitely coming out with body damage at a minimum.

Haha, I haven't done the inner CV's yet Justin, I started to & then I thought , "Hey, my buddy Dave owns an automotive repair shop ( Express Auto Service) So I went by & talked to him & he's gonna give me the run of the place after hours sometime this week, pretty cool, 5 service bays , 3 lifts, lube pit, etc; I'm gonna R&R the front axles instead since I have access to everything......:D

What part of Corral canyon you talking about ? Ya wanna take a run with me up Bronco Peak when I get done ? Your locked right ?

My sig pic is Bronco Peak going down the North side ( with Matt hanging off the back lol ):eek:

Good choice getting the axles done too. It would be a pain to have all that apart and then do it all over again. So...sounds like a mod day at your buddy's shop this week huh. Count me in!! :D
If you head down to the campsite below 4 corners (can't remember what it's called) there's a 4x4 trail heading up the side of the hill. Plenty of videos on Youtube showing how rocky it is. I hiked up it last year sometime and wouldn't dare take my truck up or down it. Nasty stuff!! I'm not locked but I figure that the Warn 9.5xp mounted to the bumper will get me out of almost everything. ;)

Sneaky guy justin. You know CC is one of my favorite spots. If you want to go down hell...take Bronco Flats, not as bad as the Brono Peak Connector but I would like to see someone try that. PJ peak is also a rough place to hit up. TDS is fun and it looks really dry out there in that section doug mentioned. How hot was it? I want to make a trip out there. PM and we'll get a few to run with you. Keep the group small.

The camp ground you speak of is called Bronco Meadows & the trail that shoots up the hill is the infamous Bronco Peak Connector !! It's one of the few BLM OHV rated Double Black Diamond Trails. ( Extreme , modified high clearance, front & rear locked, body damage likely, armored, skids recommended, etc; ) & no way in hell is my truck (or any one I know) ready for that except for maybe Mario's '84 crawler (dual transfers & all that shit) But we could do about 3/4 (maybe more) Bronco Peak (single Black Diamond) even if your not locked theres a spot or two I can strap ya thru & a couple places that require spotter, but since I've already done it once before I'm pretty confident I can get us up & down with no damage at all........

I would like to be able to head out and just drive around until it's too difficult to even attempt. I'll end up trying PJ peak one day, just not with the wife and kid. It sure was pretty dry out there that weekend. Wasn't much of a challenge for a 4x4. The temp was around the high 80's to 90's. We stopped a few times under some trees so it wasn't too bad. I'm all about a run out there again. I would like to try a night run too if anyone is down.

Hmmm. a night run would be interesting to do , we'd have company no doubt .( Border Patrol hang out at night ) But thats no biggie we're not smuggling & they kinda know us out there anyway after all !! heheheh:D

Might want to stick to the trails we know though, but who knows we'd just play it by ear(sight?) I guess.

This is what we'd need for the connector .

    This thing is a beast, fully caged & I mean fully, inside,outside,over & around......:eek::eek::eek:

That thing is sick. I have a '98 Jeep TJ that's going to be my hardcore trail machine one day. That day will probably be when I stop spending money on the Tacoma. Like that will ever happen. :D
