Just curious, getting ready to change gear oil in my rear diff, and Ive been reading and from what I understand its only the trd sports that are suppose to use the lsd oil, yet my 2008 base sr5 has a sticker on the diff that says lsd oil only. Not wanting to put the wrong stuff in it and cause problems, so any help is appreciated here fellas!!

Personally, if that sticker was on there, I would put the oil with the LSD friction modifier in it just in case. It won't do any harm if you don't have an LSD. Who knows if it was something special for a regional distributor or of that is the axle that even came with the truck(unless you bought it new).

Likely that you have it, but an easy way to check is to jack the rear wheels in the air and see if both wheels spin together in the same direction. If they rotated opposite its a standard diff, together it has an LSD.

I'd just buy the additive if you already have the gear oil, the Toyota stuff is fairly expensive.

Well I guess I just got lucky and snagged one with the LSD, I'll try the jacking it up, but if it dont hurt to use the modifier anyway I'll just put it in anyhow.

The sticker is there to eliminate confusion, let it do its job.
