That iacv you purchased looks like a knock off. Its supposed to have some glue on the top in that hole like the original. If it doesn't throw a p0505 it might work for you however it sounds like the part is just made incorrectly to me. The hole is in between the two straight hoses in the last picture. I would just not throw out the original part in case it does so you can clean it. To clean it unscrew the 4 screws on the iavc and take it apart. Then you will beable to rotate the valve and spray it with throttle body or carb cleaner and clean it up with a few q tips.

That code is probably P0171 and it appears for many reasons. One of which is running out of gas. So my guess is when its about to die from lack of air at low rpms its also running low on fuel and dumps that code.

I kept all the factory parts just in case but so far everything seems dialed. The RPM is perfect. I cant stall it. And no codes so far.

Interesting read. Mine was idling low (kinda rough; causing concern) so I cleaned the IACV and the MAF. It was good to go for a little while. The other day, it started doing the rough idle thing again. It's not all the time though..... which is strange. Low = about 500 I believe.

I have had the spark plugs done. It was recommended to have the injectors cleaned. Need to look up that process. Not sure if I was being up-selled.

Could a dirty air filter do this? Mine is about 500 miles over-do for a cleaning (K&N drop in).

Look into the PCV valve. And try cleanin the air filter. Its only a five minute job.

There are a few things i think could cause this.

    1. The tachometer gauge is not calibrated so its reading lower than what the rpm sensor is putting out. In other words the tachometer doesn't say the cars actual rpm which sounds very common.

    2. The IACV need to be adjusted. Its two screws on the IACV that are the ones that are on the side without the electrical connector. They have elongated screws to twist the plate they screw down. This adjusts the idle by setting how open/closed the valve is. This only works with an OEM part.

If it's that much of a problem you may need an obdII live data scanner to see what the rpm sensor is putting out. Its about $40 on ebay.

I think you were being upsaled and it is easy to bring the idle up to the 700 plus or minus 50 with the IACV adjust. It will make the idle go up and down 500 rpm guaranteed depending on how you set it.

With the PCV valve, change the "formed" hose also.
