I was wondering if it made any difference which way the spare tire is mounted under my 2014? Is there a right or wrong way for the rim to face?

Right now the exterior of the rim is facing upward, which is standard I think, but I'd like to flip it around so I can use the space on the interior to store some gear. Thanks!

I keep mine with the valve stem facing down so I can check the pressure.

Didn't think of that but a great reason - thanks!

You could probably adapt an extension hose. See DRC Air Valve Extension and/or Wheel Masters Spare Tire Inflation kit on eTrailer.

I keep mine pointed up since it is a matching alloy and I do a 5 tire rotation. So I'm trying to avoid scratches and dings.

Valve stem down to check pressure is a good idea in general, but I have on board air so not an issue for me.
