A dealer, had to check around for the right one, cut two keys for me for $15 each. The dealer said they cut the normal (like your house key, but two sided) keys for free.

    These were the keys:
Amazon.com: AKS Keys New Smart Insert Emergency Key Blade Uncut Compatible with Lexus HYQ14FBA : Automotive
I removed the plastic, which left me with a small flat blade to store in my wallet.
Have not used Tech Stream yet to program a FOB.

#Rainoffire. Could you elaborate on the "tokens"? From where, how are they used, etc..

So to register a used key fob or when you lose all your keys, is to reset the immobilizer and erase the all the keys, then eprogram all the keys again (including your previous keys and the used one you bought).

During the process you will need a Passcode to complete the reset. You get a passcode through an online calculator that processes your Techstream version, VIN and the seed code provided by TS. You need tokens (5 for around $25) to use the calculator.

It’s a DS808 but any by-directional scan tools should work.

A Rav4 (2014) so it might differ, but I brought my chip key into Lowe's and had them cut a copy on a old style blank for about 5-6 dollars right after we purchased the vehicle. I wasn't sure if it was a chip key or not (suspected as much) but that wasn't a top concern, I at least have a spare key to open the door if my wife locks her keys in the vehicle. Worst case I reckon you're out $5.

What does a dealer need from you? Proof of ownership of vehicle?
