I picked up some new ray10's to replace my SEMA T4r wheels and have been shopping around to get them swapped over. I will be reusing my tires . So far I've been quoted $164 from America's tire in Campbell and $172 from Llyods in Santa Cruz. I know I'm bringing in loose wheels not purchased through them but this seems really high for a wheel swap ( mount, balance, tpms). Ill pay it, but just looking for confirmation that this is the going rate or for any other recommended shops in the Southbay area?

That sounds about right. I have heard of places refusing to even mount used tires.

Appreciate the feedback guys. Looks like I'll just use Americas tire since I've had great service experiences using them thus far.

I paid $110 with lifetime balance/rotations at Firestone in Watsonville when I got new wheels. Granted I don't have TPMS, but how hard is it to unscrew the TPMS and put it into the new wheel?

Little bit of this and a little bit of that but stock af.
Hope they are not the -38 Ray 10's, they don't know how to mount them. Ask me how I know....

As a former tech, I can confirm there are some guys, who I atleast worked with who weren't always as "gentle" lets say, especially with the carryouts. It wouldn't hurt to take a few pics of the wheels before you drop them off just to be safe. That being said there are also plenty of guys that are capable, so I dont think it should be a huge concern. Maybe ask around to see if you have any friends of friends who work at a local shop. I know I took care of plenty of my friends/ local people I met when it was slow/ after hours. The task is fairly simple and should cost less than that, (I would often just do it for a meal after work) unfortunately the company just has their set prices ( they have to pay for their fancy machines). Maybe check costco with costco as well, since I know AT will price match!

Good to know for future. I dont really know why the guy quoted me $164 over the phone. I went in prepared to spend that but ended up only paying $65.

That's a huge difference. At least it was lower than expected. That's always nice.

I should add I bought the tires off simpletire.com, had them shipped to wheel works, dropped off the wheels and picked them up. They didn't mount them on my truck. The price difference to have them mounted on my truck was only $3.

I'm in the same boat here. bought some lightly used tires, new wheels, and want to transfer over TPMS from old set. Some recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Too few to list.
Hmm... I pay $10 a tire with new valve stems for a swap. $12 each with tpms.

Based on the info from this thread and my results, give Wheel Works in Los Gatos or America’s tire a try. I wasn’t about to question the price difference from my phone quote so I just shut up and paid.

I forgot to mention the $86 Inpaid was for 5 wheels. So a bit less than $18 each.

South West Tire Shop located in Sacramento. $10 per tire and $20 for swapping out TPMS. They have the larger diameter and small diameter mounts. Larger machines won’t scratch SCS wheels.

Plus used tire fee. Couldn't find anywhere for 15$. Just had dealer do em for 25$ each cus I needed them to take off the OEM locking lug nut. Didn't have a key. Had em replace with non lug but damn. 86 at wheel works... I called a few. Minimum 100

Usually the cheapest places are the run down shops and little mexican/asian places haha. But even near my place the prices shot up

True. But I didn't want to chance some small shop messing up my new Ray10s. I figured if Americas did something they'd own up to it based on the great service I've had in the past

Paid $100 for four tpms swaps and mount/balance from a reputable shop. However this was not in the bay area.

Think I'll give them a try.
Just spoke with them and sounds like a good place to go.
