My driving record reflects your criteria (clean record, & some discounts applied) in Southern Ontario I pay $100.25 CAD/month. If I lived 1-hour south of my current address (on the same friggen road even!!) I’d be in Ontario’s highest insurance Postal Code zone (thanks to fraud, rapidly increasing population and no driving skills) and would likely pay double if not more.

I posted a thread like this about 4 years ago but here is an overall update on what my 2011 4 door 4WD Automatic Base level Tacoma Costs to have:

Purchased Brand New in November 2011, $28,500 CAD

Currently 8.24 years old and 166,717 km (103533 miles) on the odometer.

Total gas put in is 20,982 Litres (5,543 US Gallons)
Total Cost of Fuel is $21,695 CAD which equals $0.13 per km driven (Average fuel price over those 8 years is $1.03 CAD/L or $2.97 USD/ US Gallon) based on todays exchange rates.

Total Cost of Maintenance (Fluid changes, new tires, car washes, mechanical work, etc) $5,699 CAD which equals $0.03 per km driven

Total Cost of Insurance is $12,834 CAD which equals $0.08 per km driven

Total Cost of Depreciation using the: FV=PV*(1-(%depreciation/100))^number of years and assuming 9% depreciation factor made the cost of depreciation equal $15,394 CAD which equals $0.09 per km driven.

So in total it cost me around $55,621 CAD or $0.334 per km driven to drive the truck for those 8.24 years.

What does everyone think of having a 9% depreciation rate in the formula. I put lower then average because these Tacomas seem to have high resale value. Even with the 9% it is saying I could sell my truck today for $13,100 CAD which I think is a good deal based on local Canadian Ads for same year and similar mileage as it is well below average posted price.

Well, I will tell you that a 2011 with 166k is for 13k is extremely cheap lol. I couldn't find one under 20000

Great breakdown of cost of ownership/usage for your 2011. I paid the same for my 2011 DCSB and have maintained it per Toyota recommendations; 5K oil/filter, 30K fluids & spark plugs. I wash it myself.

I have 65K on my truck.

I have all of the records/receipts, just haven’t done the math for confirmation of usage costs. Next rainy day...

If I go down that chart for years owned to 13, the value is about right for my truck and I paid about what you paid.
