You can also try putting an ad on Craigslist asking for transportation quotes. Just include the to and from zip codes and type of vehicle to be transported. Be sure to mention that its in running condition.

PM me if you need any assistance with uShip.com.

I was actually the first employee there and just left after 7yrs. My wife is the head of the customer service department there so she can assist as well.

If you are worried about having the time why are you even considering a 5 day trip and enjoying it? When I moved to San Diego I drove from Indianapolis to San Diego straight thru and it took me 37hrs. Pretty much a day and a half straight. If you add up the gas an assume you will be getting 350 miles per tank you will be spending around $450 in gas for the trip.

I have no problem driving for long periods of time so I would save the $1000 extra to ship it, the airfare you would have used to fly and the week it will take them to get it to you and just drive myself.

    cold air intake

+ 1 on cutting down the days. figure for every day on the road with lodging and meals thats about the cost of two tanks of gas. I trailered a bike from Tampa to Colorado Srings and that only took a day and a half.

Gentlemen, thanks for all your suggestions. I have in fact decided to drive out there. I will have 7-8 days so it will be a good road trip (albeit a more expensive one). I will also have my motorcycle in the bed and dog in the back of the access cab to keep me company.

Sounds like you made a popular choice.

I simply had no time. I flew out to CA, bought the truck from jaysanch21, and flew back to TN a little over 12 hours after landing.

Shipping cost $1200. I calculated that gas would have cost $450. They picked it up on Mon and delivered Thur.

Best part was it showing up, I just kept cheering as if I had scored a goal in the World Cup.
