Cost to turn off the seat belt chime in a 2012

Just got back from the dealer, chime was turned off at no charge.

 

You must've had a nice technician

I cant believe the stories i am reading in here. I have NEVER charged a customer with a new vehicle to go in and change settings. The fact that they are customizable but require the use of a Techstream to do it means the customer should not be charged. PERIOD!

I dont care f you have 23 miles or 50,000 miles if there is something in there you dont like it is our job to change it, unless of course it becomes a regular thing for that customer, then that would be a different story.

 

it goes off in 30 seconds... i don't understand... just give it 30 seconds of chime then its done until you shift to reverse or park again... then wait another 30 second..

I personally wear my seatbelt 100% of the time, in fact, it's pretty much natural reflex for me since I was a child.

Frankly, I don't have to hear mine go off often enough to worry about getting it disabled, but here's a few reason why I don't like it:

- Passenger seat does not always contain a human passenger, but I do occasionally use it to transport my duffel bag, etc. which apparently weigh enough to set it off. This is the #1 reason I hate it.

- If I'm driving a very short distance at slow speeds (i.e. moving my car to a different parking spot, using a private drive or as a farm vehicle), I know I don't need a seat belt just to do that, but yet there's the annoying chime!

- It should be my choice to have it on or not. Yes, in most states it is law to wear seatbelt, so I'm not arguing that should be my choice whether or not to wear it (that's a different discussion). a dash light or single chime to remind me I'd probably be OK with, but that incessant beep is downright annoying.

Went in for my 5000 mile service and asked to have seatbelt chime turned off. First they were going to charge me an hour's labor, but when I told them it's listed as a custom option in the Owner's Manual and I'd heard people were getting it done for free they did it for free.

I wear my seatbelt 99% of the time and don't need to be told to do so. It's that 1% where I'm really glad the chime is gone.

dealer shut mine off for free... my local dealer wouldnt do it though.. had to go to one half hour away and they were happy to do it.

and yes i wear my seat belt 100% of the time on the road... but that 1/4 mile to or from the mail box in my apartment complex is TERRIBLE with the seat belt chime going off constantly! so happy it's turned off.

It gets old. I do it every day. So i had the passenger one turned off. But not the drivers.
