Dealers make plenty of money selling at invoice. Invoice pricing is not "Dealer Cost" and has hidden profit built in from the manufacturers. Invoice is usually 5-7 % off sticker which is no great deal and considered fair market value.

Costco is for people who don't like to negotiate or haggle with the dealer to save more money off the purchase price.

Auto Dealership owners are some of the wealthiest people for a reason.

Dealer I was directed to via Costco program wouldn't budge. I bought mine out of state (Riverview in Phoenix) and saved a ton.

Exactly. I detest the negotiation process. It's not in my emotional makeup and makes me terribly anxious. The Costco program was perfect.

However, my wife loves the negotiation process, so when we replace her car it'll be mano a mano between her and the dealer.

If a dealer doesn't honor the Costco program price, they need to be reported to Costco since there are legal consequences for Toyota corporate.

    in progress...
I had a specific truck that I wanted at 4 different local dealerships. They were all similar optioned, within a couple hundred dollars MSRP from one another (all near 40k). One dealership I know the fleet sales guy at (and purchased a new car from in the past); He wanted $500 over invoice. Next I tried to haggle on my own at two other dealerships to get the best price using internet sales guy and one in person, test drove, talked to manager, etc eventually agreed to invoice on the truck at one of the two dealerships, but they were being real "I'm going out of my way to help you, this is the deal of a lifetime" type of mentality.... Then thought what the heck I'll try costco - sent me to the last dealership and I saved literally $1500 more than the next best deal I could get anywhere else. Also worth noting I received this price with NO negotiation or even setting foot on the lot. Just went online and filled out the costco form and they emailed me with the offer. Went straight into the fleet department and avoided the sleezy sales guys out front. No more wheeling and dealing, just paperwork and outta there. YMMV, but I had a very positive experience.

I got my 2018 TRD OR for $100 below invoice. The dealer showed me a pretty old price sheet, so I excused myself from the desk and went outside and called Costco. The rep called me back quickly and told me the correct pricing and gave me the latest date of the price sheet.

I went back to the desk, let them know I talked to Costco and had them show me an updated sheet.

Still a hassle but much less than the normal process.

TLDR; Costco works as long as you call them while you’re at the dealer.

Got the same thing when I bought my KTM too. Got referred to a dealer and dealer said they don't budge from retail. Still bought Tacoma and KTM, but not from the referred to dealers and NOT at MSRP

Call Costco while you’re at the dealer. They can help you get the dealer to budge.

I’m awaiting on my order via Costco and I’m getting invoice price. Other dealers in the area said they couldn’t even come close to that.

Too late. I got the price I wanted and the vehicle I wanted by ordering it out of my area. It was a sale they wouldn't have otherwise had. I'm very happy with how it worked out eventually, but my local dealers did suck. I've
