Because it says "Mobil" on the bottle? Because they add more shit into their oil, or process it differently?

I never said they were all the same.

I just changed my oil after one year @20k miles.
I ran 0W20 signature series Amsoil and filter, zero issues and the oil still looked new.

My 2018 Taco. Anyone wanna guess what kind of oil I'm running in it? Yep, the same shitty ass oil that got me 300K miles out of my 2nd gen Taco.

Question for you guys, do you think $8 Walmart coolant is as good as Toyota red long life coolant? They also share the same standards/min. requirements.

I wouldn't mix it, but if it met Toyota's requirements I wouldn't really care. Will it need to be changed more often, maybe. If it's 1/2 the price but I need to change it in 1/4 the time I wouldn't hesitate to get the Toyota coolant.

Since we're talking about oil here... I intend to change my oil every 5000 miles. If the cheap oil is 1/2 as "good" and 1/2 the price, and I'm changing it 2x as often, where's the problem?

For arguments sake, I would bet that the "cheap" oil is better than 1/2 as good. I don't have any proof of that, but I haven't seen anything otherwise either.

If you had a 30-40,000$ piece of equipment that depended on the battery lasting a certain amount of time... you have the name brands energizer, rayovac, Duracell, etc or the Walmart brand or Kirkland brand of battery.. what are you going to choose.. if you had to walk 10,000 miles in one pair of shoes, you going to Walmart or Costco??

isnt it fact that Walmart brand anything is basically cheap Chinese shit?? But for some unknown reason Walmart oil is just as good as name brand...

buy Walmart steak and tell me how much better that is than wagyu..

and LOL at the MF’s saying it meets the API standards so it has 2 b GUD.. you know absolutely nothing... do you even know what that standard means???? Or how those oils are certified??? Or the testing it undergoes?? No you don’t..
It has “American” in its name it has 2 b gud LoL

IMO (again) peace of mind mostly. Not saying a company who sells Wally word oil is automatically shit, but let’s face it - half the people who you’d regularly see at Walmart 3am on a Wednesday night are usually the ones who wouldn’t give a shit if their vehicle runs tip top all the time lol. In other words, if the oil was low(er) quality, half those people wouldn’t know.

I use OEM because I can throw a rock and hit a Toyota dealer from my place it’s almost so close and I know a service dude in the parts department who sells it to me at cost.

Am I “cooler?” No, just my choice lol. it’s my first new-ish Tacoma and I want it to last as long as it possibly can.

Sounds like you have no clue what you’re talking about. It’s rated to current specs and API approved. But their just petroleum specialists, scientists, and engineers....

Neighbor has 2 3rd gens and runs his business with them. Has about 400k between both of his trucks. Has used only Supertech synthetic from Walmart. Uses the Supertech in his diffs too. Tows and hauls everyday and runs about 7k intervals. Sounds like garbage to oil to me.

Like I said in an older used car I understand the cheap oil. In my newer, expensive truck I'm running toyota oem oil or better.

I hear you talking (read your posts), yet I don't see any real data.

You can blab all you want all day about "standards", what they "mean", and all the while they are readily available with a simple search just like the rest of what I have posted in response to your drivel. Standards are called that for a reason. If something meets it, well, yeah.

I'm no Warren shill and for that matter I'm not a Mobil fan either although I do like the oil. I ran it religiously in my Impreza with no issues. I could care less what you choose to run in your motor. If you want to spend more $ on your oil that's up to you. I just want to know WHY you think it's so much better. You keep proclaiming that other oils are inferior without saying why. I'm just asking for info here. Give me a good reason to switch. @Itsgottabeyourbull Are you going to actually answer my question or just respond with more nonsense?

Elaborate what would make your oil of choice better? Basically same quality synthetic oil as numerous other brands. What you’re paying extra for is convenience/distribution of product and advertising associated with it. At the end of the day, your expensive truck isn’t demanding on oil compared to even a cheap turbo compact sedan that costs half the price.

@Superdave1.0 I have some prime Hawaiian real-estate for sale. It'll be ready in about 1000 years.
