In other words you’ll screenshot a page because basic oil talk, metallurgy, fluid and lubrication dynamics, etc are over your head. Obviously all synthetic oils aren’t the same. But what’s funny is that Supertech and Mobil 1 are very similar group 3 hydrocracked oils with slight variances in additives. If Supertech was the official oil of NASCAR, we’d all be paying more for it.

Interesting that people easily spend thousands on suspension/wheel upgrades and then make a big deal about saving $15 on an oil change.

The most important issue with engine oil is to change the oil with the right viscosity at suggested intervals. Current lubricants go from Good to Great across all brands, so just change it and move on. We are no longer living with 1975 era lubricants.

We all want our engines to run as long as possible, so the possibility of one oil being better than another leads to this discussion. People tend to be very passionate about what oil they run. $15/oil change isn't much, but why spend it if you don't really have to. I'm all for buying proven quality products, but I won't pay extra for marketing.

Funny these same oil ‘discussions’ happen in the old BMW motorcycle forums. Even the flip side of the argument.. “Our older engines have additive needs these newer motors don’t!” :smash:

    Ah, right. That anecdotal evidence.

Mobil, Shell, Chevron all surely must put out reports that show how their oil is superior.

Your truck and your money. I’ll simply insert my 2 cents and correct what is often misinformation. Mobil 1 is good stuff for most applications, but’s there’s clear examples where’s its failed to hold up. Take turbocharged EJ series Subaru engines for example.

I'd like to think I'm using Mobil 1 because Toyota's LMP1 program runs Mobil 1:

But in reality one of the stores in my area had a closing sale, so I bought 10 jugs of Mobil 1 0W30 with a piano discount.

I have heard things about Walmart selling some of the best oil. Considering their market customer possibly not changing their oil as often. Just here say, just saying..

Problem solved: Everyone buy what makes them happy. It’s your money, use it how you see fit.

but Kirkland has a reputation of demanding quality above and beyond Walmart’s. So comparing Walmart and Costco are not the same.
And comparing Walmart steak to Wagyu steak is a joke. A better comparison would have been Walmart to your local butcher shop. But wagyu? Come on.

Same....well still living the experiment here in SoCal until it's huge implodes from all of the give-aways.
Gov Newdsum is giving free oil changes to all tacos, even if you're not in CA he said he'd fedex them...or so I read in the innernetz.
