    Hi there,

I have a 2011 Tacoma 4x4 w/ 242k on it and am experiencing a clunking noise coming from my front end under slow speed braking and turning. I looked into the “brake clunk” forum and most everyone seemed to say it was common. However, unlike the typical brake clunk symptoms, my truck is making multiple “clunks” as I slow down, whether it be to a complete stop or just slowing down at low speeds. They don’t seem to have a pattern to it like a rotating assembly would, but I’m pretty lost about what it could be. If anyone had any insight, please lmk. Thanks!!

Take the wheels off and look for broken or missing hardware at the brake calipers. Are the caliper bolts tight?

Took the wheel off and nothing seems to be missing or broken. Caliper bolts were also tight when I checked. Could it have anything to do with my cv’s? They were the first thing I checked and both had normal amounts of play.

try checking your wheel bearings. lift front of truck and try to move the wheels vertically and laterally to check for play.

Sway bar links and play in the steering rack could also cause clunking

I have the sway bar removed, but it could be the steering rack, I haven’t checked that yet. Wheel bearings are fine though, just checked and there isn’t any play in either of the wheels.

SOLVED!!! Turns out it was actually my lower control arms moving at the bushing as well as a bent driverside control arm...got them replaced and problem was solved.
