    Hello everyone,

I recently had to replace both of my rear leaf springs due to a crack or two. I brought it into the shop and went with the "heavy duty" spring option.. they were actually cheaper than replacing with the exact part. The HD option has an additional spring and I love the way it drives ever since.

I'm running 265/75R16 Duratracs on my 2013 AC, 2.7 liter. I've been happy with the tires but I've noticed occasional rubbing in the front since adding the new leaf springs. I do not have the mud flaps installed.

I am trying to even out the front a bit. I've read some conflicting opinions on simply adding strut spacers. The front reads 34.5 inches from the ground and the rear reads 39.5. I'm only trying to lift it enough to stop the rubbing, I don't mind the nose down look.

Looking for a cost effective option that I can hopefully do myself. The entire suspension is still stock besides the rear springs.

    thank you

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

First of all. I may be reading this wrong but it sounds like you replaced the stock (broken) leaf spring with Heavy Duty (lift) springs. It sounds like you're running an otherwise stock suspension.

If you are running leafs that give you lift, you need to replace your rear shocks with extended travel shocks.

On the front. No... I would absolutely not recommend a spacer lift. I would recommend lifting the front with new front shocks mounted with a coil that will do the lifting.

Eibach coils mounted on Bilstein 5100s will give you about 2.5 inch lift... (You could do Bilstein 5100 rear shocks as well.)

WHOA! about the rear shocks. Very reputable mechanic who should have definitely informed me about this... weird because they could have sold me on the work. So surprised about this.

On the front, are the new coils necessary? If so, so be it. Just trying to wrap my head around what exactly is needed.

    Thank you

Not sure lifting coils will work with the stock front shocks. I would highly recommend replacing the front shocks if you're going to lift it (either way).

A spacer lift on top of the stock springs is the only way I know for sure you can lift the front with stock shocks. You don't want to do that, the ride will be terrible.

As for the rears... yes, you need to do extended travel rear shocks if you lifted the rear.

OP: Don’t Panic. If you are just driving around town and mild off-roading the rear setup is fine. It’s a problem if you continually max out the travel of the rear shocks.

Correct... It's not a safety problem. And just road driving will be fine. But the shocks wont last if the suspension is cycled because now the shocks are the limiting factor in the cycle.

    Thank you everyone.

So it sounds likes I need front shocks, extender travel rear shocks, and something to lift the front. I only want to lift the front enough to stop the rubbing.. correct me if I'm wrong but I'm not sure 2.5 inches is necessary..

Any recommendations on parts and where to buy them?

    Thanks again.

5100 Bilsteen up front, set at 1.1" lift should be all you need minimum.

There's a 5 inch difference between the front and the back. That's a lot of rake. I was suggesting 2.5 inch to get you closer to the height of the rear, but still have a rake.

You could also go with Old Man Emu coils. There are a few different sizes to choose from. But if I remember correctly, they are more expensive than Eibach.

As far as suggestions on where to buy the parts... My suggestion is @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc all the time, every time.

Are these the correct shocks? (24-280785) Are there other bilstein options?

Can someone point me towards the proper coils?

    Thank you

These are the front shocks. These are the coils. **NOTE** There are drop down menus on the front shocks. If you choose A) Fully Assembled B) Eibach Coils 05-15 Tacoma AND C) BE5-C477-T1 @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc will install the coils on the shocks for you.

These are the rear shocks I would recommend. (I recommend them because they mount with the shock body up. Having the body up makes it less likely to get dust, water in the shock. I, personally, prefer mounting shocks with the body up and with no shock boots)

    Also @russperry20 with a lift...

It's also advisable to get extended brake lines
Rear Front Replace your bump stops
Rear Front And either put a spacer to drop your carrier bearing. Or pinion shims to align your driveline

    Thanks again

I recommend assembly unless you have a proper spring compressor.

You can lift using the preload settings on the 5100s. I did that when I originally lifted my truck... the ride is shit, a everything in the truck seemed to rattle... drove me fricken bonkers.

I suggest getting the lift from the coils instead. Thats what makes them "necessary."

I appreciate the help. But I cannot afford the preassembled at this time. Wondering if this is something I can do without preassembled.

You can rent a spring compressor at O'reillys that will work.

Also, if you're going to assemblle them, look on Facebook Marketplace or Craigs you may be able to find a decent set of 5100s. They are listed in my area pretty frequently.

I appreciate it. Any idea what the part number is on the eibach coils? Maybe I could find cheaper sold separately?

Pretty sure that's it. I linked them seperately earlier. If you can find some 5100s with no coils installed, you can buy the Eibachs separate.
