My projects all seem to turn expensive on me...

It starts off with good intentions -- "well, I'll just replace this as long as ..." and snowballs into "...damn! I spent $500 already..."

The Mitsubishi engines of that era were in a lot of forklifts and such so they are still well supported.

If I die I hope my wife doesn't sell my stuff for what I told her I paid for it...:anonymous:

Ah, now this all makes sense why it's so cheap. And why it's only available through rock Auto, and other non-traditional parts suppliers.

They were sold with either badge in the U.S. They were as well-regarded as Toyota and Nissan pickups at the time. I love the styling, it is utilitarian excellence.

I had a 1996 Mighty Max that would do anything I wanted it to do. I got rid of it in 2000 and it had 100,000 miles. I actually saw it a few weeks ago. The only damage was to the back bumper. I could see where the owner had pulled the tonneau cover off and there were still a few mounting holes. I bet that thing has 500,000 miles on it now.
A maintenance light will come on every 50,000 miles. There is a rocker switch under the dash by the ignition key. This is for the dealer to do their checks and charge $700. Just flip the switch and it goes off. At the next 50,000 miles it can be reset again. I hope you get this thing going. Good luck.

Huh, that's is really good to know!
Sad thing is almost all the body panels are straight, except the doors and tailgate. The driver's door is bad enough it doesn't close right. When I saw it was a manual on the add I was interested, but when I noticed 4wd with AC I dropped everything and left work as it was at the end of my shift. the seller had 150 people message him before me and 120 after. I guess I was the only one to show up with money, and I was even 5 hours away!

It is a light door so it should not be the hinges but that would still be the first thing I check before buying another door. It might just need an adjustment in the striker plate.

The doors are noticably bent in, not sure exactly what happened. Since I live in the south now I should be able to find one somewhere. challange will be to get it color matched.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I've got a 1980 Pickup 4x4 in Montana if anyone's interested! It's not running right now, has carburetor issues, but ran when I got it.

All the mini trucks of that era rusted pretty bad (here in the rust belt) but the the Nissan Hard Body rusted way worse.
(or was better at rusting depending on how you want to look at it)

Too bad no almost no one loved the mighty max as much as the toyotas.... :pout:
I looked around, there is really no mitsubishi forums outside the evo, not surprised though.
