    Edit: Forgot to mention, this is an almost new Tacoma with only 3k miles on it, and I got it in September 2023.
    ============
    So I had a guy doing my window tint today. He had the Ignition on so he can operate the windows.

    He has already removed both front and rear windows tints on the driver side which took about an hour+.

    While he was removing the old tint from the tailgate window with "steam", after a few minutes he asked me to start the vehicle as he said the battery was draining. I tried to start but it didn't start. The dashboard lights acted erratic, and there was a weird noise coming from the back that sounds like a running "motor".

    I tried to jump start with my Autowit SuperCap 2 Lite 12V Batteryless Jump Starter which has worked many times on my other vehicles. I just had to charge it with another vehicle because it was taking a while to charge when I tried it on the Tacoma.

    Anyway when it was ready, I tried to start the Taco, the dash light wouldn't light up, and there is that weird sound coming from the back again. I tried it a few times, to no avail. We also tried to jump start with his truck but still no go. Then the Check Engine light came on

    We had Autozone test the battery and they said it was bad so
    we bought a new battery, and the truck started as normal, but when he left and I put my OBDII scanner, I got these error codes :

    U0129 [0xC129]
    Data bus, brake system control module - no communication
    Status: Confirmed
    =============

    C1241 [0x5241]
    IG Power Source Circuit (MR, Cel.)
    Status: Confirmed
    ===============

    I have driven the truck for 15 minutes, the check engine light is now gone, and my dashboard doesn't have any "funny light".

    My question is, could there have been a "SHORT" somewhere at the back cause by the water, and will that cause a problem later?

    I'm not blaming the guy, I just wanted to know the possible cause so i can avoid it next time and know what to expect from now.

    Thanks

    Sounds normal.
    Battery went weak.
    Truck detected weak battery.
    Threw code for low/loss of power. (as it should)

    Carry on, nothing to worry about.

    Pretty normal for low voltage and communication codes to set when battery voltage is low so I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

    Forgot to mention, this is an almost new Tacoma with only 3k miles on it, bought from new... my worry is if there was a "short" somewhere on the back seats where the sound came from?

    Underneath the bed, near the fuel tank there's a charcoal canister that's part of the emissions system. A few hours after the truck is shut off it will do a check/purge which will make a humming or buzzing noise. That is likely what you heard. It's perfectly normal.

    Hi all, just want to update this thread, I bought a new battery, the truck worked fine. I then bought a Noco battery charger and charged my Toyota battery, then put it back on the truck... no problem.. so it was just the battery completely depleted. Thank you all for your input.
