This thread is a counter-point to the guy that was complaining that his truck was a piece of junk, and at 5'-10", he couldn't fit into it or some such nonsense.

I bought my 2023 SR5 in January, and have about 7K miles so far. I have owned a used '87 Pre-Tacoma truck, a new '98 First gen, a 2008 second gen, and now this one, and this is my hands-down favorite so far. This is the first automatic V6 I have ever owned, and the cruise control, smooth ride, quietness and responsiveness is so heavenly. I haven't noticed ANY of the problems that other folks have posted about. The engine is peppy, with plenty of power even towing a 3K+ trailer. My 2.7L trucks really struggled on the hills, and this one just drops a couple of cogs and powers on.

I knew this wasn't a Maserati when I bought it, so I don't expect sub-5 second quarter-miles. The mileage is every bit as good as my manual gearbox 2.7L trucks, and is about 3 mpg better while towing. I couldn't be happier with it so far....

Most people are happy with their trucks. Some people hate their trucks, and for whatever reason, think it's a better use of their time to come on the forums and flame than it is to shop for something that will better suit them.

I ignore the latter, it's better for my sanity. Some people suck.

    I also love my truck!

Its funny how if you know what you want/need and you test drive the truck, you wind up with something you enjoy o_O

Purchased Toyota Certified, with Vijay bumpers, additional lights, and Falken Wildpeaks on Fuel rims. Prev owner apparently painted the grill.
I love my truck. Every time I see it, I get a silly grin on my face. When I'm driving and notice a nice vehicle, I used to feel a little envy, I don't anymore.

I saw that post about the Tacoma's being for midgets and scoffed. "I'm 6 foot and have no problems, I do have a 1-2 inch lift, so that may change the entry a little, but what's this guys problem?"

This past weekend I tweaked my back. For the next few days I won't have as much flexibility as I usually do... annnnd, I'm bumping my head on the door frame as I get in. So, while I don't think it is a failing in the truck, or that the Taco is "designed for midgets" I do have to remind myself that different people have different experiences. If that guy doesn't like his truck, he should move on to a different vehicle. There sure are a lot to choose from.

Agree. I like mine. It drives well, no rattles, and the tech is more than I need.
I made a few minor changes, window tint, de-badge, tonneau cover, etc, but overall it was pretty good from the factory.
It does what I need it to and has never broken down. What's to hate?

It gets my goat when somebody gets on about the V6's lack of performance. I wouldn't expect a truck to accelerate nor handle like a sports car. All my previous trucks had 4-cylinder engines, and other than towing, I was satisfied with them. They couldn't pass a Corvette on the interstate, and couldn't smoke one at a stop light, but that wasn't what I was looking for in the first place. It's like buying a CNC plasma-cutter and complaining that it can't cut precision gears. If you want to make gears, get a milling machine.

I've had this truck over 4 months, and still grin like an idiot when I walk past it, and search for an excuse to run into town every day. I'm too old and dignified to sit in the driver's seat and make engine noises like my grandson, but NGL...I've thought about doing it when the wife is out of earshot... o_O

Some people just like to complain. There are some that will find something wrong with nearly every vehicle they buy, take it back to the dealer umpteen times, the dealer stops helping and has them on their ignore list, owner gets fed up and trades it off for another brand. Net result is, the last brand wins and gets rid of the bad customer that is not to be made happy.
It makes me wonder at times- how some of us can't get help with real problems from the dealer,, and how many nit picky jackasses showed up that day before us and pissed em off.

I love my truck. It does what I need and has been far more reliable, better built, and gets better mileage than the Ram I replaced. I like the quicksand on black look, it's been comfortable to drive, and good off road. It works for me, so I am not concerned with other people's gripes. Some people will complain about things no matter what.

I'm 6'2", 220 lbs (give or take a couple of pounds). The comment about not being big enough for a 5'10" person is absolutely laughable. The only thing I've done to make the truck more comfortable to drive is add seat jackers.

Too many allow their choice of transportation (and many other things these days) to become their identity.

You got that right. I remember a time when a Republican could have a conversation with a friend who was a Democrat, and they could agree to disagree. Now, if you don't agree with me on everything, we are blood enemies. Nothing good will come from such mindsets.

You heard it here first, 3rd gen is the best gen. Yesterday 4th gen was the best. Awhile back it was 2nd gen. I like them all. It's a truck that can haul a little bit, doesn't break down and it takes me places. That's all I need.

I'm one of those soft-in-the-head fools  who usually thinks that whichever one I have is the best. Probably one of the reasons I've been married to the same girl for so long.

If you are serious, that is unfortunate....having a POS truck, I mean. I'd also be pretty bummed out having spent all that money on a POS.

When I first got my license back just before they invented fire, I had a '75 Ford Bronco. I loved it at the time, but looking back knowing what I know now, it was a complete piece of rusty shit. That 302 burned gas like crazy and coupled to the C4, it had almost-but-not-quite enough power to get out of it's own way. The passenger side door actually fell off in the school parking lot, and the floor was rotted out to the point you could see the road rushing by underneath your feet. Good times. My next car was a '75 Plymouth Valiant with the slant-6. That thing was a tank, but finally rusted out. I parted it out and bought my first Toyota, an '87 with the 22R and a 5-speed gearbox. I met my starter wife in that truck. The truck lasted longer than she did, LOL.
