I went to my local Home Depot, and a small hardware store nearby- no luck finding a 1/2" max. No Lowes in my small town. Next time I am out of town and see a Lowes I will look for the lock. I wonder if you can get one painted black?

I am sure you can paint it black but honestly the machined silver is not that noticeable on the gray interior.

I finally went to the Lowes a town south of us to find a 1/2" max option. Found the first watch most of you have been using. But, in looking at the template supplied, and viewing the photos of the ones everyone installed, it seems most of you went lower then the template suggested? Is this true?

Anwsered your PM but yeah the template isn't needed. I just eyeballed measured before drilling the pilot hole. It's very simple once you place the lock up to the center console and see where the "lock arm" is supposed to rest when locked.

    I missed this post...

That's a good idea but without looking at the the push button lid latch again I am not sure if there would be enough room to put a screw in there? Definetely a good idea though.

Good question. I was wondering the same. I think it's a great idea! I'd like to do it myself! I think Toyota should have put some thought into some security. Meh! Thanks to Gav:) your awesome. Just need a few more pics and instruction. Thanks much:D

    Cheers!

Great mod, looking forward to using this one when I'm out for a run and need to leave some stuff in the console.

I unfortunately don't have a dremmel tool yet. Eventually but not yet. Any other creative ideas on getting the hole large enough to fit the lock? I have normal 1/2" inch drill bit. Hard to tell from pics but do you think that would bore out a hole large enough for the 1/2" version?

Edit: Got a dremel tool. Doing mod today ;)

Basic Dremel is not that expensive and 100 uses. A unibit will probable make a perfect hole for a lock and a unibit comes in handy almost as much as a dremel and it's cheaper. Just get a good one. Anything will cut plastic but cutting steel will dull a cheap bit quickly.

Thanks buddy, I fixed this situation by buying a dremel tool about thirty minutes ater this post. I figured I'd go price check em' online and was surprised to see they were reasonably priced. Like you said 100+ uses, so went with it. Should be here soon. ;)
