I'm in the process of my first retrofit on my 2012 and have come across a couple of things that I have to ask about. I'm installing the Mini D2S-X projectors (square lens) with Gatling Gun shrouds and the Morimoto Elite HID system.

The first question might seem stupid but which way is "Up" on these things? I assume that the "flat part of the projector" is "up" for cutoff, but need to make sure.

And next, the Gatling Gun shrouds when installed, leave about a 3/16" gap between themselves and the headlight bowl. Is this normal?

    Thanks,
    Eric

I can't speak for the shroud but the cutoff shield always goes on the bottom.

The flat cutoff shield in the projector will always be on bottom. PLEASE BENCH TEST YOUR EQUIPMENT BEFORE PUTTING BACK TOGETHER. It will save you a lot of heartache later.

Also it is normal for the shrouds to have a gap on the backside on these trucks. They are universal parts and the tacoma has a very deep reflector bowl.

Many thanks gentlemen. I'd of damn sure done it just the opposite after looking at all the beam pattern cut-off shots that show a nice flat "line" (oops, no pun intended). Colton, I think I'll fab up something to close the gap to satisfy my OCD.:thumbsup: to both of you.
