@CourseMotorsports reached out to me to test and review their cell phone mount for 2016+ Tacomas.

These mounts can be purchased on their website for $45+ shipping at https://coursemotorsports.com/collections/toyota/products/toyota-direct-fit-magnetic-phone-mount

    The kit comes with:
    1. CNC machined and black powdercoated bracket with 3M dash protecting foam
    2. CNC machined and anodized ball mount
    3. Magnetic rubber capped phone mount
    4. 1 circular/1 rectangular metal adhesive backed receivers

Installation was super simple. Taking roughly only 4 minutes of my time. Simply grab the right hand corner of the dash trim, give it one good tug and it will begin to pop off.

With a 10mm ratchet, remove the 4 bolts holding the radio head unit into place.

Pull out the head unit just enough to get the mount behind the radio mount and reuse the bolts to attach it.

Tighten all the bolts and replace the dash trim.

Attach one of the adhesive metal plates to the back of your phone or phone case. (Note: I tried putting the plate on the inside of my phone case and although the magnet is able to still make contact, I would not trust my phone to stay in place over a bump)

The magnetic phone mount holds strong to the metal backing, even on a larger, heavier phone like my Iphone.

Overall, I really enjoy how low profile this mount is. Its out of the way of my air vents and still in a visible position. It doesn't obstruct my view while driving and the magnetic base provides me a quick on and off capability.

Thank you @CourseMotorsports for allowing me to review your outstanding product!

One thing I didn’t see in your video was how the phone can be tilted left-right, up-down. With the ball and collar design I assume it can be, correct?

Looks good. Does the metal plate affect the wireless charging?

I have not tested this. I can only assume it would since the magnetic field needed to generate the charge will be obscured by a metal plate.

Looks sweet, I was about to order one but at $25 to ship to Canada plus the $45 and then the exchange rate I think I 'll try to make one.

I'm in Canada too and can't stomach the shipping and xrate but really like the minimalist look....if you do end up making one, please post pics!!

I wonder if you could mount that on the bottom right hand side of the head unit. That way there would not be much cable running across the dash.

I like how this does not obstruct the air vent at all, but I've never been a fan of magnetic mounts because its takes away the ability for wireless charging. It would be pretty cool if they could incorporate the same perfect squeeze mount that hondo uses.

I got mine today and the magnet wont quite work with my phone case. I guess I'll have to use a ball mount cradle from another system.

I stuck the magnet outside of my case. I didn't want to at first but committed. Now I don't even care. Nicer to just drop my phone on the mount.
