    35’s and a flatbed ‍♂️
Like the title says, Just cut and trimmed for 35's and they're on now. I have a snorkel, but don't love the look of it and am undecided whether I actually want to put it on, or, just go with a cowl setup instead. My only real concern with the cowl is the snow buildup in Colorado and if that is goin to impede the airflow, same for the snorkel and sucking in blowing snow in the intake. what do you guys think?

I am personally not a huge fan of the cowl intake mod. I do have an ARB snorkel. With the ARB snorkel, you can rotate the intake head 180 degrees in the case of snow or heavy rain which is a nice feature.
The ARB snorkel also has draining holes built into the design of the head to direct rain out the neck.
Im sure there are pros and cons of either choice.

As a good habit. You should clear the cowl vent when you clear your windshield.

The wipers are less prone to icing up. The air flow for the heater/defroster will be less impeded. The washer jets will not be misguided.

Consider that any snow that manages to enter the intake system will be stopped by the air filter.

You really shouldn't flip your snorkel inlet backwards. The venturi effect it has at certain speeds can literally suck the air out of your engine rather than supply it.

I like my snorkel. I've noticed some mileage increase for sure.

Custom ram air was my go-to mod after trimming my fenders. Not a huge fan of the snorkel, and the ram air scoop does perfectly fine in rain/snow. Volant air scoop, pipe, and couplers off ebay.

I bought the 4" from this company: https://store.northeasternarborist.com/enginaire-glass-filled-composite-precleane-4829755.html

The snorkel intake for the Dobinsons is 3.5", so I also had to buy a intake reducing insert: https://www.intakehoses.com/reducing-insert-4-od-to-35-id.html

All together with shipping I was out about $110 I think.

Actually I was out $120 total, because I broke the supplied hose clamp over torqueing it, so I ordered a couple higher quality ones from Amazon for $10.

My vote is for the cowl induction. I did this mod not too long ago and have since done some deep water crossings, water rushing over hood, no issues what so ever. I live in the Pacific Northwest and have run it in plenty of rain, no issues. I have yet to see the cowl covered with snow, that is coming soon, but after cutting two extra holes on the sides of the cowl area, I dont see this being a problem. I personally do not like the look of a snorkel, and do not like the idea of cutting a giant hole in my fender. I made a slight tweak to the mod, and the engine intake is sitting just over the hvac intake. The hvac will flood before the engine does. Granted, the cowl induction will not allow you to get as deep as a snorkel, but how deep in water do you really want to get? If your getting into water deep enough to flood the cowl intake, you've got other problems

Update... went through winter with the cowl induction, plenty of snow, no issues what so ever, excellent modification

I agree with cowl mod. Did mine a few weeks ago but I’m not sure she’s pulling enough air. Where did you cut extra holes into the cowl?

Extra holes cut in the side walls of the cowl area on each side, used the same hole saw for the intake tube through the firewall. What makes you think she's not getting enough air? Driving different?

How much more engine noise are you hearing through the cowl?
