Weird, it shows a different version for mine. Wonder why.

When I went to the 192.xx site, a pop up message appeared on the radio that an update (ver 16) was available. My previous update was sometime this summer.

So my wireless CarPlay connection has been randomly disconnecting and reconnecting the last few times I used it. I decided to go out tonight and see if a firmware update was available for the cplay2air adapter and there was with a description for the update that said something to the effect of general fixes. After that update completed I scanned again and another popped up that gave a description about fixing an issue with the unit not connecting when the car is started. After that update I could no longer connect my iPhone to the cplay2air even though the phone showed a good connection in Bluetooth settings. I tried rolling back the cplay2air firmware but that failed. I tried connecting via usb cable and it would work but once the cable was removed it lost connection again. Further update attempts failed. Restarting the truck several times did nothing. Plugged in the usb cable one more time and disconnected it again and all of the sudden it is connecting wirelessly again without issue. I have no idea what was going on through all that, but figured I would relay my experience in case there is something that may help another in my situation. As I said it is working normally now.

When I first got mine I was told by the manufacturer “if it’s working with your vehicle, do not perform an upgrade”....which made absolutely zero sense to me unless they do not perform any type of regression testing. :|

Coming from and electronics / computer background, I can actually understand that to some degree. For example if everything is working on your PC, it is usually best not to upgrade the Bios unless it adds a feature you want or fixes an issues you are having. As I mentioned though, I was having issues with CarPlay disconnecting randomly, so it made sense to check for and update.

But, if something is upgraded shouldn’t it not only correct any issues, but also work with all previous versions? Hence my statement about regression testing.
Idk. Just seems weird to me. Needless to say, mine works so I haven’t done any upgrades. Lol

Updates can create new problems as well though. You may not have had any issues before the update but ended up with issues afterwards. Then you're stuck until the next update.

Just like the Microsoft world...update to the latest/greatest and have shat start breaking as the engineers rollout shat that isn't fully tested on all platforms. Outlook client vs OWA interaction with their own products don't friggn work after last update we received.

Absolutely nothing to do with carplay but it IS just another "system". Apologize but dealing with this BS this morning already.
