I never use the Qi wireless charging, it take long time to charge and get hot easily. I use the usb charger in cigarette lighter. You’re good.

My adapter arrived a few days ago— only took about 2.5 weeks to arrive from China. It seems to work perfect so far. Fully connected in about 55 seconds from starting my engine. I now no longer have to pull my phone from my pocket when I get in my truck! Perfect!!! Great for short trips which is at least 90% of my driving!

I have started having a problem with my adapter, the unit will shut down and restart at the slightest tap to the case. I've sent two inquiries to their help line, hoping for a reply.

It does not. But, there is currently an indiegogo page (here) where one for android auto is being developed. The inventor is well known in the XDA developer's world. Expected availability is as early as December of this year.

Sadly, I can no longer recommend this adapter from this company. I started having problems with phone calls using the adapter where there was a delay and people had trouble understanding what I was saying. All other CarPlay functions worked great. I was hoping that the recent November firmware update would help.. did the update, and now... nothing. The unit is completely unresponsive, does not show up on my phone at all. It’s totally dead. I’ve tried to contact the company for more than a week with no response, and the return policy seems to be only 15 days. I’ve had the device for 5 months. $149 is a lot to spend for a device that lasted only 5 months. If I don’t hear from the company I plan on contacting my credit card company and asking if there are any consumer protection options on their end. It’s too bad because I really liked the device, but until they fix their device and improve customer service it’s a no go for me.

I read through this thread a couple times and was pretty hesitant about buying. After a positive recent review for a 2020 Tacoma I pulled the trigger on this:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08FG2MT2D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_OSK.Fb6PXH459?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I plugged it in, connected via Bluetooth, it did its thing and CarPlay just started working wirelessly! The device I received was already on the latest version. I called my wife through wireless CarPlay to test for latency and didn’t experience any. So far so good!

I will note I got the black dongle so it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb and on Bluetooth the device name is VOLKSW-0A09 so I’m guessing this is the Volkswagen dongle they made?

Thanks, I think I will order the black version as well. Stoked to not have cables everywhere.

Installed the CPlay2air and so far it’s working good. I received it a few days ago and updated it.
I did notice that it wants to connect via WiFi instead of Bluetooth.

Connect your phone to the adapter and wait until CarPlay appears on the screen.
Enter 192.168.50.2 in your browser and click “Go.”
If you see an update available, click it.
Wait until the update bar reaches 100%.
When CarPlay reappears on the screen, you’re done

So any idea if this would work with a 2019? Not sure if I have CarPlay or not. My phone connects wirelessly over Bluetooth and I can play music and what not, but the etune app is garbage and I had to delete it because it was so annoying. I hate the Toyota navigation and would love an app that allowed me to see the iPhone map on the Toyota head unit.

I’ve had mine for about 6 months now. It didn’t connect a couple times. I just unplugged it, plugged it back in and it worked fine. Those were my only issues so far.
