My experience with the 2.0 is the same as above with the exception of no noted overheating problems. The Zues+ is interesting, but not at $550... I googled it and found the option below too. No information on it except what the website says. At $280, it might be worth a look.

What I honestly think will happen is that head units will all soon be wireless carplay. WHEN this will happen is anyways guess.

so can one of these devices be plugged into the USB in in the center console? I really would not want that box hanging down from the USB on the dash

    Trunk Lock.
Nope. You could of course do some rewiring but I just used some 3M tape and stuck the box to the side of the area where the Q-Charger is.

or, you can do something like this as an alternative to moving the port:

This was my solution. Not as bad as I thought it would be. The center console USB cannot be used, because the dash is the only CarPlay port.

Is that the cord it came with? I’ve been considering buying something like this but was annoyed I couldn’t plug it in to the center console haha.

    Would you buy again? Thanks!!

I basically have it like that as well. Got a cord from Amazon someone on here recommended and it just hangs out on the charger area. Doesn't bother me as its all black and basically blends in

That's the cord it came with. As described above, it's not "perfect-perfect", but it's pretty great. Audio is as good as corded, connects fast, works 90% of the time every time. I would absolutely buy again. Here's the link to the one I bought. It's also $9 cheaper right now compared to what I paid...

I see you have a 2021. Did you order the version for 2019-2020 or 2021 and newer?

Well, after two years, after a CPLAY2AIR update, I have a plastic brick.
The phone sees the adaptor, but it won't connect/work.
I sent off a message to the company but have not received a reply (and don't expect to).

Same here, but I've had mine for less than a month. Hit or miss which means in the morning it works, then in the afternoon it won't connect with my phone, and so on. Got tired of the nonsense, so I went back to wired connection.

Will be returning it to Amazon shortly...

I had one in my Audi S3 that worked great. Just traded the Audi in on my 2021 Tacoma, plugged in the same dongle, and works great with the Tacoma also. No issues for me. Mine is version 2.0 I believe.

Just for those curious, I got a defective CPLAY2AIR unit. Updated firmware and everything, and all it does is boot up, work for ~1 min then crash; rinse and repeat. Hooking it up directly with a cable works great.

Went down some customer service hell, they didn't respond to my refund request at all until I threatened to dispute the charge. Then they took me down "can you take a video of it" to "did you update firmware" and "can you update it to this version" email thread which by the end of it surpassed their 15 day refund period. Also they took down my low review on their site.

They said they couldn't refund outside of that window, I replied the request started well within it initially. They followed up with they wouldn't refund return shipping charge and also threw in "we will charge a restocking fee if the issue is not from us," which ... got me sketched out. Disputed it with my CC provider, will figure it out that way.
