yea, this is the first 3rd gen i've found with the issue. but it shows Toyota has a history with some failures in this area.

I would open a case with Toyota. Even if they don't help you, it will be documented.

This happened to my 06 after a jump, took to a frame shop and it cost $500. Maybe try getting a warranty through Toyota first though

If it has truly been babied, we should be seeing a lot more of this. TW members are a vocal bunch when things go wrong.

That's a new one to me. The previous engine mount frame failures were on the frame rails themselves, but the middle-left in your pic clearly shows the reinforcement plate they attached to the frame to address that issue.

I haven't before seen a failure close to the engine like that. The good news is that a proper fabricator can fix that, but you're looking at unbolting the engine and lifting it at least several inches to provide clearance for welding and whatnot. Engine removal might be necessary.

Those cracks are not frame cracks though, they are from the sheet metal that the radiator support is made of and I think is usually due to larger batteries putting too much weight on a part not designed for that weight.

And sheet metal cracks, especially at the radiator and cab mounts, has been a thing since the 1st gen.

Ok, so I'm gathering this is not exactly a frame crack. not sure if that's good or bad.
At this point, I have made an appointment with Toyota....to get their take and see what they say.

I hope they own this. I am not a 4Wheeler. I drive on dirt roads, but only to get to where I'm going, not just for fun. There's been no 'hard hit' that should have caused something like this.

I had a previous Tacoma, an 05. Did the exact same driving with that truck. Sold it with 165,000 miles, never having to do anything to it other than basic maintenance.

My fall back will be to find a good welder who has the capability to lift the engine up to get access to this.
Hopefully I won't have to do that and Toyota will step up.

It replaces the whole engine mount along with frame reinforcements. So unless the block is cracked or broken.
