    Hey TW,
What do you guys supposed happened to my plastic grill surround? Last week I noticed it had cracked. There are no surrounding abrasions to suggest it was hit. It was bitter cold here however, could that have caused it? Additionally, I have the BAMF grill which has been on for about a year now without issue. Think Toyota will warranty this? Should I put the chrome grill back on first? Thx

Someone else had a similar problem with a BAMF grill cracking the ring, something about the tight fit and no give of the grill

100% on that grill being the issue. Swap it out before you try and cheat the system.

That's a bummer. Definitely go back to stock before trying to warranty it lol

Put that plastic chrome one back on before you take to the dealer for sure! Once you get that shroud replaced I would go with a different aftermarket grill, that one fits too tightly and being metal doesn’t give at all and is hard on the plastic shroud judging from the posts I’ve seen.

If you try and warranty it, just be honest. It’s not Toyota’s fault the aftermarket metal grille cracked the bezel. But hey, I’m not your conscious.

Well yeah I don’t know if they are gonna warranty that. I would think you’d have to pay for a new one.

Don't try to get Toyota to warranty it, its not a fault of the truck. Contact BAMF and see what they will do for you. Otherwise, man up and pay for it yourself.

Not the first one I’ve seen. No doubt it’s that Grill. That’s the only reason I passed on one when it was offered at $250

I remember this happening to someone last year. BAMF said they fixed the issue and it wouldn't be happening to anyone else. D'oh!

Curious if BAMF is going to replace the surrounds and affected grills. They should.

Plastic expands and contracts with temperature change. Metal does not(well, not as much) Your surround shrunk and the grill didn't give. I wouldn't say it's common, but I have seen many that have done this in colder temperatures. For me, it's the best grill out so I will take the risk. Plus it rarely drops below 32° here

Thanks guys for the input. Did not know that the grille inserts were causing these problems. I will try and reach out to the BAMF guy and see if he can help..

Mandatory tint, in-channel visors, and 265/75R16 MT Toyos.
Reminds me of the posts where everyone bashes those who do BS insurance claims causing rates to go up in certain areas. I feel you both are right. If more people tried to BS toyota into warrantying something that wasn't their fault it just causes prices to go up.

Curious to find out what that fix is. I have a BAMF grill and while I really like it, if this is going to happen to my surround I’d like to have the fix.
