Rotating the tires today and noticed this cracked lug nut. 2010 Tacoma, original lug nuts. I typically use an impact gun to remove. To install I use an impact gun (set to the lowest level) and then finish off by hand using a torque wrench set to 84 ft-lbs. (I think the recommended torque is 83 ft - lbs).

I'll replace once I get a new one. Never really paid much attention to the lug nuts. Something I'll pay closer attention to in the future. 20190901_132358.jpg

actually thats just a cap, the replacement ones you get at parts store are solid. Only reason I know is I just replaced a couple on my f150. Someone tried to steal my wheel at Walmart and sheared one of the lugs off and the others were loose.

It's the stainless cover that's cracked. It's common for those to get loose and fall off, leaving the smaller size lug nut underneath. In your pic, you can see where it's hammered from using an impact. Buy the aftermarket lugnuts.

Get rid of the crappy oem lug nuts. There is a special place reserved in hell for the man that thought that retarded idea up. I have half sized sockets that I had to buy just to deal with removing those lugs when they get distorted.
