After driving for 400+ miles yesterday through snow and and an ice storm I noticed my upper grille cracked straight through. Has anybody else experienced this? I'm wondering if the lack of flexibility from my metal @BAMF grille combined with the plastic surround might have been a contributing factor.

At any rate - should be easy enough to swap out - does anyone know if they sell these pre-painted?

Hmmm, would it be temperature related? I remember all the Ford rear plastics breaking.

I think it very well could have been - lows were in the -15 range leading up to the crack.

I'd try to rule out root cause if at all possible. Otherwise you may throw money away replacing it to have it happen again, if it's an issue with the grill for instance.

Agreed. While I love the BAMF grille I may go back to stock or something plastic if I'm going to have recurring severe weather issues with it.

Not with the BAMF installed. They'll tell him to beat it!

That was my thought too on the grille insert putting extra pressure on the surround in the temperature extreme.

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
Any chance it got hit by something while very cold? Maybe a rock or something?

I would say the insert is the culprit at extreme temps, I know mine is super tight in the surround.

I thought about that and can't tell much from the photo but I don't see any impact marks. If an object hit it, you'd likely see some sort of mark?

Hard to say. The front of the truck was covered with about a half an inch of ice for much of the drive, so it could have been weight, temperatures, a rock, or a combination of all three.

Ah yeah water to ice or ice to water contraction/expansion. If it was already tight to begin with I bet that's a likely culprit!!!

I think that it being (appears, at least) perfectly straight, lends to stress and not impact. I'm guessing combination of cold and the grille weight.

Probably the plastic shrunk more than the metal grill. Is there a decent 1/8" or better clearance around the metal grill? I'd contact the manufacturer, as they might need to make a design change to allow for more expansion/contraction.
