No primer will not last. Primer isn't water proof (protective), it will rust relatively fast. It needs to be painted and clear coated. You should also apply chip (rock) guard, to match existing chip guard.

Is it kinda to late to apply Clear coat? I don't really mind not having matching paint

If you plan on doing yourself. You should apply chip/stone guard first, then paint, followed by clear. You can get all three in spray cans. Either from a good auto parts store, or auto paint supply store. Clearing over primer, is a crap shoot if it will hold up. Don't know what the guy used, for prime - Lacquer, enamel, or epoxy.

Most factory's and auto body shop use Wurth, or SEM paintable chip/stone guard.

If you can spray WD40 into a hole, you can do this too.

Not sure where you are located, but if you have rust in your area then its a good idea to spray inside all the things and inside the frame.

You should probably just pay to get it done right, especially if it isn't cleared. It'll pop off their sliders will be in the way for the shop to do it right and just be a bigger Hassel later.

Body supply shops, good ones will mix factory colors and put them in spray cans on site.

I'd do that for now, but get it fixed right later. Putting sliders to hide the damage is the same shit people do when they shit their pants.

The bondo and added holes are going to soak water up like a sponge

I have a set of theater speakers I was supposed to deliver to a big chain movie theater. But my invoice only showed 6 pair and I have 8 pair. I'll sell you a set for a tenth of the invoice price. Will deliver them to you in my white van and while I'm there I will seal coat your driveway. Never ever ever cheap out. If it's too good to be true !

Did he use body filler or roofing tar. Johnson brothers can lay the tar really smooth then all you need is paint. Ops

He paid $400... so by deciphering the craigslist code of unethical bodywork I would estimate it at $3.00 bondo and $1.00 aluminum foil.

What I see missing is a CA prop 65 sticker on the repair. Both of those materials, as well as primer, are known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects, earthquakes, homelessness, high housing prices, and traffic 24/7.

FYI- If you go to a proper body shop now, make sure they grind it down to bare metal and start fresh. You never know what that Craigslist-guy used underneath the primer/Bondo and you don’t want the body shop to just add more filler onto his shitty repair.

If it was me, i’d do what others have suggested and rocker guard the entire side, then buy a can of colour matched paint, watch a few videos and blend it myself. Fluid Film inside the rocker and hope the shitty repair lasts a few years.
