Hello! I drive a '97 3.4L V6 manual 5-speed Xtra cab Tacoma, and I just replaced the valve cover gasket seals on it, but the engine would crank without starting when I turned the key in the ignition. I took off the intake runners again and checked my electrical connections, but everything seemed to be in order, and then I sealed her back up. Now she cranks slow and rough and still won't start. Any ideas what it might be? I made sure the ground wires are attached and quadruple checked the plug wire routing, and I'm at a loss.
    Thanks guys!

Verify you reconnected the grounds on the right side of the air intake plenum. Some people miss those on re-install.

Unless you're talking about a different ground than the one right next to the diagnostic module, that one's attached.

Yeah it's right below the diagnostic port.

Have you triple checked your plug wire routing, and basically everything you touched or disconnected to make sure it's all back correctly? if it ran before... it still should now.

I did, yeah. Quadruple checked the plug wires. It did manage to start up for about a second, once, if that helps. I'm just at a loss what the problem could be.

    Here’s some pics of a 2000 3.4
    Thought maybe it could help.
I know there are some differences between years.
You’ll figure it out don’t just take your time and think it through.

Also check the maf sensors. Make sure it’s plugged in.kinda sound’s likely with the start and die.

    I saw that clamp….
    But
Assuming vacuum hose…would that cause no start?

Figured it out! Field mice got into it and nibbled through some wires. Nothing to do with the job itself. So I'll go deal with that now
