Is the crank pulley reverse threaded? I’ve tried a 750 lb impact

lol yep. I was able to get mine off with a very powerful impact. You may need to bump start it to get it to move. over 200lbs of torque holding that sucker on.

You'r gonna need a big ass impact, I've got the M18 high torque and it can take them off but its really big to be shoving down in a tacoma engine bay unless you've already removed stuff.

pretty sure that's exactly what I used. Then I used a stubby to put it back on.

100% accurate. my nephew has a 4cyl tacoma pulled his RAD and plugged the coolant lines to save as much as possible. but got a stubby impact up in that space and good to go!

Just bump start it using a breaker bar. My impact couldn’t remove mine either.

    Pull the EFI fuse
    Bump starter

You’re on your own for getting it back on tight.
If you have manual trans, put it in gear and crank it down.
If you have an auto, you either trust your impact, or buy the special crank pulley holder tool.

Sketch factor :7.5 - Do this at your own risk:eek:

Sketch factor is high for sure. It really did and does work. Make sure it’s on the bolt securely and braced up against the frame.

    Pull the fuse as mentioned.

As soon as you turn the key, be ready to turn it back. Not because it will start, but because it will keep trying to turn the engine over. Hope that makes sense.

You can use a pulley holderwhen trying to reinstall and torque the crank bolt. That’s what I did.

Btw, I had one of these tools when I tried to take it off initially. However, I could not thread the two screws into the crank pulley that are required to install the pulley holder. That’s because the bolt holes were filled with crud and rust.

You can use a tap or a thread restorer to clean up the threads before you put the pulley back on. The threads are M8 x 1.25.
