Just noticed that my crank pulleys are offset from the rest of the pulleys on the engine causing the belts to be out of alignment. It looks like the crank pulleys are sitting forward (towards the radiator) about 1/8 to 1/4". Looking at another engine I noticed the timing indicator is much closer to the pulleys (about 1/8 to 1/4") than it is on my engine which leads me to believe it is an issue with the crank pulleys. I didn't notice any of the pulleys wobbling while the engine is running.

Is it possible my crank pulley is backing off? Has anyone seen anything like this before or have any idea what the issue could be before I start tearing into it? I only saw one other case of this while searching but no resolution was posted.

Got it fixed and wanted to share the solution in case anyone else suffers the same incompetence from the previous owner or mechanic. When the harmonic balancer was reinstalled the key was neglected and it was just torqued down as-is preventing it from seating the whole way. Luckily an easy fix but definitely makes me a bit uneasy about any other work that may have been done on the truck if something this simple was missed.

Agreed, I've driven the truck about 1,000 miles that way and who knows how long it was that way before I bought the truck
