So, maybe I am blind...but, not seeing so much info anywhere on the internet about how to replace a Crank Shaft sensor on a 2006 Tacoma 4.0. From some of the documentation, it seems as if I have to remove the AC compressor and a litany of other parts to get to it.

I have found that this particular code P0335 is going to be a secondary symptom of something greater - timing chain issues among the most common culprits.....

So, assuming the car has about 150k on it...best case is I take care of the chain and see if that resolves the issue before doing a purge of the AC stuff and all that fun work....And/or anyone have a great link to anything? YouTube does not even seem to have a video...

All I know, I would rather tear apart my E63S than this truck...it makes no sense to me.

The crank sensor rarely fails on a Tacoma, does the truck run?
    Does it crank?

The only way to accurately check the crank sensor signal is with an oscilloscope.

The A/C compressor, Alternator, and compressor bracked have to be removed to change it, the Compressor can be set aside without unhooking the lines but it's not fun.

I can't see a timing problem setting a crank sensor code with no other codes.
Have you verified the engine oil level is correct and it's in good codition, low or dirty oil can cause the cam timing system to be unable to control timing properly and make it rattle/knock.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
How many miles on the spark plugs? With the truck idling is the tachometer needle bouncing a little bit or steady?

Turns out the oil was low. Being under the car I did not see any leaks, so, I wonder where it is going...but, hey, not my car :)
