When I go to crank my truck its turning over but not starting up. I've been told by the dealer that it just needs to sit till the computer reboots and it's gonna take 24+ hours to do so.

Has anyone had this problem? I need a solution. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure it's a push button ignition?

about 5 sec at the most. It acts as it's not getting any fuel.

Sounds like it's getting no fuel or spark. Is the immobilizer active (security light solid or flashing?) how long has it been doing it? I would discount the battery and see if it resets the ECU. Shouldn't have to wait 24 hours. Any lights on or flashing?

If the Tech stream isn't communicating a module must have took a crap. Could be a wiring issue but that's not as likely. Is the truck with the dealer now? Keep us posted

Yes it's with them now. But they gave up on trying to figure something else out about it. So I have the key and will be making frequent visits to try her.

I would demand a new truck if they cannot get it fixed. If they have it more than 30 days that should be considered a lemon by Lemon laws in most states. Just can imagine them not figuring it out. Again ask them for a new truck if they cannot fix it timely.

The truck shouldn't be sitting outside, should be in one of the bay's. They should of put a call in to the engineers to try to get some feedback on what's possibly going on. Id be going to a different dealer is one is near by

This happened to me today. Started the truck up first thing in the morning to go to work and it was fine. I was trying to back out of my driveway before the windows and mirrors defogged and the backup cam was foggy too so I had super poor visibility. I accidentally stalled it perpendicular to the street while trying to spin around and see out the back window. Tried to start it back up and nothing, just cranked, may be a little sputter like it wasn't getting fuel. Now I am dead in the water, blocking traffic going both ways on an avenue in San Francisco looking like a dumbass. After turning the key off and cycling it a few times it finally started up like there was never anything wrong. Weirdly enough the tank mpg resent during this ordeal. Nothing else was effected. I checked trip, and all other guages.

    Just really weird

I have this exact same problem on mine. Started slowly, as in it would crank a little longer than it probably should before firing up. This was probably around 40 miles on the odo, at just shy of 100 miles it started to get real bad as in I would disengage the starter with the button because it was so bad. I have an appt with the dealer tomorrow. I'm hoping whatever it is is not causing more damage or wear on any components. Seems like a fueling issue if you ask me. Here is a link to a thread started recently about this:

Exact same thing happened to me last week. Backing out of my driveway up a slight incline, stalled blocking everybody and it would not turn over no matter what. It was trying and coughing but wouldn't catch.

Finally on maybe tenth try it caught. I haven't had any issues since but it definitely shook my confidence. I go places where I need this thing to start, every time.

Aside from my concerns about damage the underlying issue could be causing, the no start and extended crank times are just plain embarrassing in a truck with less than 100 miles on it!

I'm not a gen 3 owner or bashing. I just want to see how this ends.

Sucks, I like the 3rd gens, but my wife is next up for a new Toyota Tacoma. I'll just have to be happy looking at it parked beside my present trucks.
