Hey there, long time reader deciding to post for the first time hoping for a little help. I have a 99 prerunner V6 auto that generally runs great. A few days back I stopped at a store to pick up something and when I came back my truck wouldn't start. Cranks fine but just keeps turning. After a few tries it finally turned over and I made it home. The next day I had the same issue and was able to do a few tests to find I had no spark and a link error from the obd port. After a few cycles of the switch it will start fine and computer gives no codes. Fuses are all good, I have power to the igniter and coils, and checked all the grounds. Changed the crank sensor and igniter after some reading but still no luck. I'm out of ideas an getting pretty frustrated so I'd appreciate any advice I can get.

Sorry for the long post, I'm trying to be as detailed as possible. Thanks for actually reading the whole rant if you've gotten this far.

Have you checked the charge on the battery? I would take it to Advanced auto or Auto zone and have them run a charging system test just to be sure. may just be a bad ground or something small. but may be an old alternator going bad or a battery that is low or simply has dirty terminals. I can feel on start up when my battery terminals are starting to need cleaning....happens every 6 months or so. Good luck!

i had the same issue with my dads truck after i got done doing the 3.4L swap, no spark while cranking but runs perfectly fine when it does start, ended up being the ignitor, small little ign module should be bolted on the fender, being that you changed that should check for signal out of ECU, if im not mistaken you got power and ground to ignitor then goes ignitor to ECU then goes to coils, of course need to check that when it wont start

Swapping the igniter didn't change anything so it's starting to point toward ecu I think. Thanks for the tip though
